Do radars emit a constant frequency?
I've been testing Escort 8500x50 Euro and it beeps quite a lot in city. Since it looks like it doesn't have TSR, I'm looking at other ways to manually filter falses. So my question is: do the below radars emit a constant frequency or does it fluctuate?
MultaRadar C: K – 24,100 GHz
Gatso, Multanova, Ramet: K – 24,125 GHz
Multanova 6F: Ka – 34,36 GHz
Ramet AD9 stacionarni: Ka – 34,00 GHz + 34,30 GHz
If they do, I could just turn on the Spc display and be on lookout for K 24,100 and K 24,125.
Thanks

Ah, great. :/ I don't have any Ka false alarms but many K. Not so good then.
Is there an interval of frequency they use?

No, this is why people use the GPS based detectors to filter out falses.

all radars fluctutate. it depends on the temperature. the cooler it gets the higher the frequency. multaradar is centered around 24.100 and in real life i would pay attention to fq from 24.075 to 24.125.
Re: Do radars emit a constant frequency?
Still - that's pretty narrow. If I see a frequency 24.160 +/- 0.020 I know it's false, right?
Re: Do radars emit a constant frequency?
well it's not that easy to say. for multaradar it is too high yes but you also have gatso which is centered around 24.125.. so i would say anyting above 24.145 SHOULD be a false.. the highes the fq the more likely it;s a false.. but still there is never a guarantee.
on the DSI you have a so called spectrum analyses screen which could help you make the decision real vs false especially when it comes to ACC or blind spot assistent. most of these transmit at several frequencies so it you see multiple spikes on the display in the upper part of the K band spectrum it is very likely that it;s a false.. it is not that easy to describe and takes some training too
Re: Do radars emit a constant frequency?
I've seen Ka sources at +/- 0.100 so be careful.
Re: Do radars emit a constant frequency?
you normally dont get that many falses on Ka so it;s not a big deal. K band is the problem not Ka

Thanks ragamix, that helps a lot. :)
