V1 owner thinking about upgrade or redline
Greetings all,
I have a V1 3.858 that I purchased in early 2005. I have never had it serviced  ,but for the most part have had no real issues with the exception of some weaker Ka detections.
Here are my options: 1) I could send in for tune-up(approx $40) ; 2) upgrade to latest V1 version ($199 for my serial#) ; or 3) purchase a new Redline (RDR/Band Seg)from escort($499).
In light of these options would the V1 update offer 1) better detection (esp. Ka 35.5) over my current V1 or is it just mainly hardware changes? and 2)Band segmentation like redline?
I LOVE the directional arrows, but am wondering if redline would be worth the extra money and giving up the arrows vs upgrade to latest v1. Thanks in advance
update: has change from magnesium case to plastic caused any glare problems for any redline users?

I'm in the same boat as you. Got a 3.872 V1 from 2011 and thinking about getting the Redline for its superior range.. However, I'm not sure I want to give up the arrows, as they really do help me
decide if I'm going to speed up or slow down. I just contacted VR labs asking if there is anything new on the horizon, as I've heard rumors about something coming out this fall.. Might be worth waiting,
but if nothing new is coming then I'll probably just go with a V1 upgrade to ESP. It should be like getting a brand new detector for $200, as they replace the circuit board.
I would love to be able to run the Redline and V1 together, but have heard too many negative things about possible intereference (unless you get a few feet of distance between the detectors, but even
then there may still be some problems). My dream combo is the STiR+ with the V1, but that probably won't be till my next car.
