That sort of thing has been going on for quite a while. It reached it's zenith in the 70's with the Cannonball Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Dash, Brock Yate's famous race that inspired Cannonball Run and Gumball Rally. It still goes on today if you know where to look. (not the $$$ celeb Gumball 3000)
Yeah. Between 1974 and 1995 there was a National Maximum Speed Limit. No road in the USA could permit a higher speed. Between 74 and 86, this was 55 miles per hour. In 86 the NMA successfully lobbied to get a boost to 65 mi/h. In 1995 the whole thing was repealed and power went to the states.Quote:

Yeah they still go on. You can look no further than the Ferrari clubs of America. They have members that participate in these things but I'm sure you will need a Ferrari first to subtly bring up the subject.Quote:
