DE is one of the easiest states to detect radar its just long & flat. The State troopers only use constant on so it was awesome living there. However, I had more than 8 encounters with REV's higher than 3.851 where i would get an alert with the V1, go to hit the brakes then I would have about 3 to 4 seconds and then be on top of him.
The GoL march test accurately displays the V1 performance on Forward Facing. If we take that same test and move the radar gun off to the side, to simulate a trooper setting on the exit ramp it's going to get ugly.
Where As with my STi I didn't have it very long in DE before I moved about a month, but I did run into a few situations where I would get around 15 or more seconds to slow down compared to the 5 with the Valentine.
Now that I'm in KY I've ran into about 15 forward facing K band encounters and the STi has at best gave me about a mile warning but the avg has been around 3/4.
So in summary I can promise you the V1 does have a problem with extreme off axis forward facing.
It may not be an issue but rather a antenna design in which case if V1 fixes the off axis issue with a new antenna design, you'll probably decrease depth.Quote:

Again its what you are looking for in a detector. Until a true "credited" test is performed from GOL or some other reliable fair source, we will have to just sit and complain.
Wow, this question seems to be asked all the time. I have the V1 and the Bel STi and like both units. If you want to save the $50 over the STi, then get the V1. I think you can get a refurb V1 for under $400. Either way IMHO, they are both good units.
Well said. The STI and V1 are the cream of the cropQuote:

Is the 33.8 even used in your area, and if so I bet you get hit more with off axis radar then with a 33.8 :wink:Quote:

Save the Cash, just get a Whistler for the dash and a Blonde for the seat.
If you get pulled over she crys to the cop and says she has to pee.
