Get a V1/Sti/9500i and don't use any of the "complicated features". They will work well regardless.

Just guessing, but I'm pretty sure by "simple", he means "inexpensive".

In the under $200 range, you might also consider the latest Whistler PRO-78 RD.

The 940 was definitely more sensitive than the Whistler in the GOL test, but more sensitive does not always mean better for your particular circumstances.

Buy the v940 Beltronics direct. They give you a 30 day test drive.

Ditto for the 940. The 955 also comes with Autoscan mode (which reduces falses a bit) and a little bit more customization on X band sensitivity in city mode but as far as pure performance, the two are equals. If I hadn't been able to find a cheap, second-hand but not used 955 for $100 on fleabay, I'd certainly gone with the 940 after seeing the last GOL test.

Both the 940 and the 955 have a "dark mode" where the only visual indicator you get is a tiny, dim "HD" for "highway dark" or whatever sensitivity mode you're running.

I must say, my 955 continues to impress, especially since lower temps and humidity are here. I've yet to hit a C/O source of any band that I haven't been able to pick up with PLENTY of time to slow down. Ka seems to have the biggest improvement of all! Best money I've every spent and the time I've made up on long trips by being able to go a bit faster is the greatest benefit of all.
