What ever happened to Uniden radar detectors. Used to be pretty common to see them. I don't see them listed on the Uniden website.
Just curious. My first RD was a Uniden.

They were supposed to release a GPS with a radar detector addon in the second quarter of '08:

Not sure what ever happened with that...
They did release a GPSRD in 2002ish though. One of the first ones to have that feature and learn falses as well as display speed, distance to destination (as the crow flies) and things like that. I have a Uniden in my kitchen junk drawer, maybe I'll pull it out and do some testing with it. Anyone know of any K band drones or speed signs in the Columbus area? My working RD list as of now consists of
Valentine One
Beltronics Vector 955
Uniden LRD937
Could see how they stack up. And how much they leak.
I would very much like to see this GPS with RD capabilities though.
What part of Columbus are you in? I know there are some on 161 just East of Post Rd in Dublin, right in front of the school before you get into historic Dublin.
I'm on the lower east side in Groveport, but anything in Columbus isn't really that far on the whole. But THAT is almost exactly the opposite side of town for me. So it would be over an hour just to drive there and then back, let alone doing any testing while up there, if i get time I may venture that way though. Makes sense they would be by a school.

Upper Urlington has/had one on Northstar heading towards Lane last week.
Is it still there? Or youre not sure? Also, was it heading south on northstar towards lane, or north towards lane? That is only a few miles from where I work and could possibly use that during lunch tomorrow for some testing, I'm sorry I dont have a video camera. But i can document everything.
Ok, broke out the LRD937 and the V955 this morning to get some initial impressions, havnt gotten any range tests done at all but did do a proximity test, and I'm thinking some of you might be suprised. Had the V1 on the windshield and I plugged in the Uniden to the second outlet and powered it on, V1 was quiet through self test, and suprisingly, quiet after as well, wasnt until i moved the uniden in line with the rear horn of the V1 and got it to within about 14 - 16 inches that i got a 1 LED X false, beyond 16 or so inches and the V1 was quiet. If i put the Uniden RIGHT on the rear horn of the V1 then the thing went nuts on all bands, but at least that leakage doesnt really go further then a couple feet. Conclusion, at least THIS model Uniden will NOT false other detectors on the road.
Bel 955 proximity test showed a huge expulsion of K when the unit is powered on but after its settles into detection mode it does not false the V1 at ALL, no matter how close it is. I expected this.
What I did not expect was the Uniden to not effect the V1 unless quite close, i figured i could put it anywhere in the car and it would light the V1 up like a christmas tree.
Range test to follow this afternoon if i can find a K band speed sign. Anyone else in C-bus know of any for sure?
