If you get a "scatter" warning, you are blessed... Yes, a radar detector is just a tool, and nothing can replace you being alert, but it is different from radar... with radar you get a warning ahead of time (if you are smart, and use a rabbit, plus a bit of luck). Hell, radar can be as deadly as laser if the leo is smart with I/O.
Even a lazy C/O cop can catch you if you are the only one on the road. It is all about knowing when and where to press the pedal down a bit further.

I would say rear laser detection is useless. If you're shot up the rear, you've just been screwed.
That said, the ONLY detector (that I've used) that has decent rear laser detection is the V1 anyway. The Belscorts have that tiny lens on top that is usually blocked from a good rear view anyway.
If rear laser is a problem where you are, there is only one solution... a rear mounted jammer.
If you are lucky enough to get scatter from a rear laser attack on the car in front of you... guess what, that would be picked up by your RD's FRONT laser sensor.

Certainly. However, I doubt anyone ever gets scatter from the rear.

Rear detection is good marketing, but essentially useless. If you get scatter, which I doubt, you are already in the LEO’s readout, toast. I’ve had scatter only twice, reading the laser through someone else’s windshields ahead of me as they were being targeted. Without a front and rear jammer you’re not protected. They are doing a fair amount of targeting in my area from the rear. One of the members here recently posted a TV news vid showing NCHP targeting I-77 southbound from Tyvola Rd., all shots were in the back.
My son and I did a large amount of testing of rear laser shots when CMPD had the photo laser vans here (shoots only in the back due to having only a rear tag). He was using a 1.7 and I was using a 1.8 to see if there was a different. I did get scatter when he went first and I was following 1 to 2 car lengths behind, but not consistently. Anything past 1 to 2 car lengths and nothing. We switched detectors and same results. At times he would drive a van through the test, same 1 to 2 car lengths with a highly large and reflective back end. The 1.7 had the little dot on the rear of the RD for laser reception. Going solo down the road, no alert until you were past the van, in the beam and at that point you are toast.
Can you get scatter, yes, consistently, no, if you want protection get a front AND rear jammer.

Rear laser detection is completely worthless. No way you are going to pickup rear scatter and once you are targeted from the rear the gig is up unless you have jammers.
Laser detection is marketing hype, laser protection requires a jammer.

I got targeted from behind. LEO was sitting in a ditch, in the dark, letting cars pass by him and hitting the rear license plates.
Where did that happen? Miami area?
