I this is still working, and I have no reason the believe it isn't. I just didn't have a cord. Maybe if the 160mph info is valid, I should install it on top of my Escort in my ride.

How about the old plane with a stopwatch: I honestly always thought this was cool....actually until a few years ago when it was shown to be *insanely* inaccurate. (Ok so normally it would be off slightly just because reaction time...but 45MPH off thats a pretty sketchy method to use especially for higher speeds.) Sam Tilley who got a 205MPH ticket on his RC51 yeah right :roll: , and the cop stands by his quarter mile clocking of 4.39 seconds which is simply impossible and unbelieveable *beep*. :roll:

Here are some details:
Got it around 1980ish he said (not 100% sure...long time ago).
All black 'Passport'
Had 'Highway/City' modes that could be toggeled to one or the other by a grey switch on the left side.
Just to the right of that it has a 'Power' on/off switch (green in color).
A Green light just to the right (power indicator).
Then to the right of that 8 red display lights (signal strength indicator)
To the right further a yellow/orange light that always lights up when a source is detected wether strength of 1 or 8.
The last thing all the way on the right is a orange switch that toggles between mute/dark.
On the left inset into the detector is a volume control...1-10
"Cinncinati Microwave" in white on the middle/back. to the left is an output jack for a external speaker/earpiece. to the right id the 9volt input.
It has visor clip(bracket) saying Passport and a suction cup bracket also (a single suction cup).
Obviously its a passport...would u have any clue from that description as to its model/do u have a similar one?
I will have to take a picture sometime.
Sounds to me like the original Passport. I have a few of these around I think. I think old units still have a loyal following, because I've seen them sell on ebay for a LOT more than a 25 year old detector should :shock: I think some old-timers have used them for years and refuse to use anything else when their unit breaks :lol: Of course in their day they were the bestyou could get, and would probably even rival todays units on X and X band.

This is the detector, one of the two identical ones, (I just threw her up there it is not where she normally sits... she normally sits high right under the RVM.)
The other detector you see is the Bel E795 I am testing out for this site.

Anycase I took this thing out after i got home (What I now know is the Original Escort Passport)... and the whistler got a .2-.3 mile warning out there for me (el cheapo 1730 I found I had a month ago-bought it like a year back and forgot about it-) and the *beeping* Passport got a blurp of signal '2 strength' (im assume it was the sheriff...it has no 'band indicator' as you know so I have no clue what it was picking up, but im assuming in such a rural area it was the sheriff) at .9miles (almost a mile, I only took a road which put me a mile past the fire station ....so i wasnt going by the sheriff to much) then stayed silent until .7miles where is got another '3 of 8' then kept that for about 2 seconds, went silent for a tiny bit and at .6 right up to the sheriff it kept gaining slowely. I was shocked. (Does this seems consistant with what they used to be able to do? I was suprised).
If we didnt have to worry about KA/Laser and this thing didnt false for everything! I would consider it darn decent. (I am assuming from what you said, not to mention it being so elderly its only X/K band)?
