Mine stays put in a hidden visor pouch, no need to re-level it all the time. I'm willing to bet left/right/top/center/bottom placement has more impact than a degree or two, based on signal reflectivity from the hood, etc. I'm going to test this when the weather is nice with the Bushnell.

I just eyeball mine for the level part, but mount it center and as high as possible next to rearview mirror.

the downside of using an actual level is the assumption that the case is accommodating
many are not
oddly enough, the antenna case of the remotes seems more likely to be square.
is a level used in a remote install ?
