Nice job Guys! I guess that tech wasnt pulling any legs when he told me they found some range on the 3.826 upgrade :D Now It was asked before --should we turn on Euro mode on the V-1 as it seemed to help in range on K? Does it have any effect on KA?

Im a happy camper with my Baby V-1 3.826 :wink:

No it was when we got a visit from the cops. We wasted time talkign to them and they were shooting the Stalker LZ1 at Bob's vehicle. NO TESTS were being conducted while this was going on

NO WAY because if you turn on Euro Mode it will ignore Ka band and X band COMPLETELY

Yes it was funny to see the officers reaction when he couldn't get a laser lock on Bob's car until he was up ontop of the police Cruiser.

Now I am disappointed that they didn't use the most current M4 RX65 Rev 2.9. I think we need to be looking at this new antenna version. I hope that someone out there can be so kind enough to test the new version of the RX65 M4 Rev 2.9. PLEASE!!!

BTW, I'm not saying they didn't do a great job, just saying they missed an upcoming concern and question to new RX65 owners.

Yeah I really wish there was two X50's also, I think it would have given more deffinative results on the average... the other X50 may have done better, or worse, we just dont know... as you said manufacturer variance IS an issue, and would love to see what the variance is with the X50.

If you test enough samples of anything, you'll find some that are great and some that are lowsy. This seems to be the case with the RX65, and has to be attributed to too much production variance. Consider the results if you were to throw out the best and worst RX65 reading for each band.

Now, in all fairness, not enough V1 3.826s were tested. But, on the other hand, considering the rather obvious build quality and track record of Valentine, most would reasonably expect the production tolerances to be rather small.

So, your dilemma about V1 vs. RX65 (since you already ruled out the Sti) really comes down to are you willing to gamble that you'll get a "good" RX65 and pay a bit less, or do you need to be sure you're buying a consistent product. If the former, go for the RX65. If the latter, the V1 would seem to be a better fit.

It's the constant upgrade improvement thing that sold me. I know in my heart that Mike V will always be coming out with upgrades and refinements to stay on top. But try it out and like so many say, return it if you are not satisfied.

I recently made this decision (prior to the GOL test) and chose the RX65 over the V1. I based my decision on more than just one test. I researched many of the previous tests, considered what was important and decided the Bel was the better choice for me. Now that I have seen the GOL results, I am very happy with my choice. The RX65 was the better detector on 2 of the 3 KA frequencies and the difference on K band (non Euro mode) was only 242 feet. The clear winner on X band was the V1. But I haven't seen X band radar in Upstate NY in many years so this is not important to me.

The results on the Ku band were questionable. A sample size of 1 RX65 and 1 V1 is statistically unreliable. I also question the use of a non-radar gun for a source. I realize you have to use what is available, but how closely does a Ku band oscillator match the signal (amplitude, pulse duration, modulation scheme, etc) of a real Ku band radar gun? I don't recall reading other information about the Ku band and the performance of the RX 65 or V1. Can anyone else post a link? Since this band isn't used in the US, I don't care too much. But - it would be nice to know if my RX65 is a brick on Ku...

Guys, this was only one test. A very real test scenario and a job well done. None the less there are other tests like over the hill, around the bend, direct line, momentary signal testing, etc. All these test will yield different results. We all know that mounting the detector high is going to give you better results.

Exactly just dont base your buying decision on just one test. The ONLY thing that we guarantee everyone is REAL results with NO HIDDEN agendas.
