LOL, Outrun... I would be proud if I had a Valentine1. But I went with the RX65because of the size, voice and extra features. At least they both are still considered good detectors...

Were you expecting the V1 to dominate in every catagory? It was first in X, K KU and 34.7KA!Quote:

OK SOMEONE LOOK AT ALL THIS AND DETERMINE WHICH ONE WAS THE BEST OVERALL. ALL WE DO IS TEST AND YALL COME UP WITH THE CONCLUSION. I am trying to look now at whichdetector did the best over all. Looks like it might be the express.
I'm trading my RX65 for the express right now! LOL :o
Yeah the express took it home. :)
Was it just basically one pass per band with each detector, or are the distances an average?

You got an Evo, what engine?! Sorry off topic.Quote:

Thx to the GOL for doing the test. I couldnt figure out why I saw all the photos of the Lidar guns and this was radar only test but your methodology clued me in
Jason, thats because every time I saw saw you you were catching all of the great moments on camera. Great job you did at it and its great to have them saved.Quote:

It's really hard to declare a winner! I think alot depends on what KA radar gun you plan on seeing the most!
Anyone notice how stealthjamals Escort 8500 rev 15 lacked in the Ka range? I wonder how his X50 would of done
I would like to thank the guys at GOL for a great and thourough test. Your work is appreciated. I would have been intresting too to see the Ku results if the STi and turned that band on. Good work guys. On the Sti, do you think it would take a software upgrade to turn Ku on or just push a series of buttons?
looks like both bel units came out on top with Ka
man the X50 did not do good at all
Yeah, the day kinda flew by. I was taking pics then uploading them and the next thing I knew night was fast approaching.Quote:

Now if you try to combine these results with that of the previous GOL test... such as the non X50 vs X50, where the although also a slight curve to the test site road, the non X50 dominated the new X50. But in this case with a different setup accross the strieght road, there was no difference.
Well, next time I am sending my old bel 985 and I am buying the fellas a round of drinks for the hassle.
The bottom line of this testing has revealed that.
1. Ka narrow is better then wide mode.
2. You performance will vary from one detector to the next.
3. STi is only worth it to those that live banned areas.

This is a little off topic but you know I wish we had a chat room that we could all log into and discuss this stuff you know. Would be kinda cool.
Dont just base your buying decision on pure results. Look at the whole picture (features, laser detection). Bottom line is due your homework and keep in mind that we are not professionals just hard core enthusiast with one goal and that is to genuinely find the best out there
its tempting...Quote:

Good Point Outrun!!!
Yeah features are a big thing.Quote:

Good point Happy... the one thing people are forgetting when looking at these results is this is just detection, with greater detection you many times get more falses (of course not always true, but something to think about). Also... can you beat the blue leds on the x50? :D
V1 software upgrade made a difference!
wow its amazing that a software update can do that
what about euro mode? looks like it performed better... should we turn it on?
Couldnt agree more.Quote:

EDIT
Now although the rx65 seem to be ontop of the STi, the STi still had great performance, so those that need the stealth and want to py for it, it is there choice in determining the extra value/expense.
X what... huh.... what X50???
on some bands it should be X -25
on others X20
it definitely isnt 50% better
I did test the STI's laser detection on my own time before the crew came along and it is better than the RX65's detection but still not as good as the V1's
Yeah, without a doubt if you live in an area where radar detectors are banned the sti is for you. That succer is stealth. I like the buttons on the front and the look of it. Still glad I have my RX-65.
Now if I have time I just might try and find a stationary ka and do some range test of my own with the RX-65 and V-1. I was kinda shocked how one persons unit could do better than another persons unit and be the same version.
There was one time that the DSP didn't get hardly any range wait till you see that video.
I see that there was alot of the same detectors tested and some have better range then others. Why is that?Quote:

Manufacture varience. There isn't a cookie cutter mold to make a detector. It's complicatedQuote:
