Being a V1 user, I agree that having a bogey count is far more important that knowing the relative signal strength. I have some questions about the X50

In the Exp mode, will the display be blank until a signal comes in then show like K and the vertical graph? Or does it always say KA K X and just not show a bar when there is nothing?

The other question I have is what happens when another bogey is detected? In your example of the speed sign, once I've looked at the detector several times, I might see there is only one K band bogey out there. But what if all of a sudden the hidden cop shoots instant on at some cars ahead of me... is there some special beep or audio indication to make me look @ the detector and realize a new bogey has entered the area?

On the v1, a special "bogey lock" tone would sound in such a situation... I'm just curious how the x50 or even the rx65 handle that?

In regards to signal strength... if I get a KA hit on my v1 I always slow because 99% of the time its a cop.

With a K hit, I look at the strength because often stores are very weak K band hits whereas a cop is usually a much stronger K band hit... I've come to the point where I can tell cop from store based on hearing and looking at the V1 display. But again, the most important tools on the display are the Bogey Count and the Band IDs.

It will display whatever your so called 'Pilot' is:
So if you are in 'HWY' pilot...not in darkmode it will display after turning on:

'Highway' until an alert comes up then it will display only the band(s) that are present... and the relative signal strength. It helps (in my mind) cut down on confusion... only displaying the bands that are present.

An example:
'Highway' across the display then it picks up two weak signals 1X,1K

The display would then show:

K(small or no vert. bar) X(small or no vert bar) -And you would hear the K band tone(raspy brap) at a 'low alert' like: "brap.........brap..........brap"

It depends, when another bogey is detected. It prioritizes the audio alerts accordingly:
X<K<Ka (So if there is a weak X and weak K the K alert will sound; and the Ka alert sounds over the X and K)...

You will (should) know if a cop shoots instant-on lets say on K band (even if your getting 2X falses and 1 K already, because it will just from a (raspy) 'brap...brap...brap' from the weak K false to a 'BRAPBRAPBRAP' K alert and the vertical bar will skyrocket on one of the K's.

No its the only real downfall (IMHO) is that it doesnt have a special lock tone everytime an extra bogey comes up (if its of the same band)... so everytime another 'Ka' band signal comes up it wont go 'WAHHHHWHOOP' (that was my V1 bogey tone impression :lol: ...yes Ive used many V1's so I know what your saying)...
You will just know the extra band (if its a true LEO) because of the strength of the alert being so much more then a normal false and also it prioritizes the audio, so lets say its a Ka radar gun, the Ka sound would alert immediately (over lets say x or k falses that you are getting) you would also see the "Ka" with a vertical signal strength bar appear on the display and you should understand you need to slow down..its not as convientient bogey tone audio wise as the V1, but it displays more information wise. It is a trade off...I find after you get used to it; the extra information is very useful. (HOPEFULLY if Belscort is watching these forums for the next firmware maybe they could think *hint hint hint* about putting a chime or extra 'tone' in EXP mode for the bogey audio alert like the V1.)

This should be similair to what you should do on the X50 (or your wife) listen to the strength of the tone... what tone the x50 is prioritizeing remember X<K<Ka, and maybe a glance at the display.
You will also find just like the V1 that the X50 will pick up the signal sooner and at a heightened strength then your normal falses... which like you said (falses) are often weak compared to real alerts...So it shouldnt be anything different there.
