Default I just install My BEL STIR Question ?

I basically have one question I actually thought about it after the fact. I have a Chevy Impala 05 and I installed the receiver behind the GRill, but the Grill is plastic (I assume) it feel like plastic, it looks like plastic. I took a flash light to see where the receiver was line up to and it looks like it line up right behind the silver plastic or coating, on the right side of the Chevy symbol. I just did some test runs the past two days against stationary speed sign KA 34.7 (Around a Curve) and K band.

Two things happen either the V1 would alert a second faster or they both would alert around the same time. I just have to add this, At least every single K band I have run into the V1 alerted at least a good 3 to 5 seconds before the Bel STIR.

Question is real simple: Do you think my Grill is effecting the reception of my BEL STIR? OR Should i just wait until I run into a LEO that is using C/O and see how far my Bel STIR will detect the signal. ANY ANSWERS PLEASEE

Never mount a remote unit behind anything.

Sometimes it does impact-it, sometimes it doesn't (negligible)... but the whole point is: They are made to be out in the open.

Hiding the unit can do NOTHING but hinder the performance... it just varies how much the unit is hindered.

Install it correctly... install it out in the open, or give the unit to me and I will.

EDIT: The best way to find out would be find a good source or two (signs)... then use the remote behind the bumper for 4-5 runs, then remote it quickly out in the open, and re-run 5 times.

Generally (from what I have seen) against C/O... the Sti-r (and all M3's) are animals... and should marginal outperform the V1 in most (not all) cases... so you might be having an impact id say.

But when you say C/O do you mean KA or K band. I have read some people saying that the V1 alerts to K band usually faster than Bel STIR, but on C/O on KA band the Bel Stir blows the V1 out of the water. This is what I just heard don't know if it true or not, but by watch all the youtube videos I have recently watch the BEL STIR should BLOW my mind on C/O at least on KA.

C/O is constantly on... meaning no matter what the source Ka, K... it is running continuously. I/O is turned on instantly by an LEO when they see you... either Ka or K band.

I know that, I'm just saying that C/O K Band is alot easier to detect rather than KA C/O. But some videos I have watch K Band is close between then two detectors but when it comes to KA usually not even close, BEL STIR takes the WIN

It very much depends on the installation. Being behind a grill hampers the STi-R even more than being behind a bumper fairing. Consequently, you're going to almost always get better range out of a well mounted V1, unless you stick it out in the open. Regardless, a couple seconds either way is pointless to ponder. If it's C/O, you're going to get more than adequate range out of either. If it's I/O, you may get nothing from the STi-R.
