Question Got a ticket yesterday, need to change RD

    Hi all,

just got nailed on the highway yesterday... usually my Escort 8500x is doing the job (I know its old and detectable), but lately, while driving, he started making noise and telling me '' maintenance required'' ... I simply unplug the unit then turn it on again and it goes away, but now my guess is that its not working properly so I must change it. But for what? here is what I encounter as LEO equipement around here :

Highway : Ka / Laser (very small amount of speed cameras)
    Town : Laser only

The COPS around here have been known to use the SPECTRE but really not often, still, if I have to change, I would like to have it undetectable. So what are my options? I will have my new car friday, I would like to have it ready once I get it (at least for the weekend). I like the ones that show me from where the signal is coming from, but from what I saw the V1 is not undetectable?

    I already have the LI.
PS : My new car will be an Audi S4 . If I can setup the RD in the rear view mirror that would be perfect!
    Thanks for your input.
    Pete.

If you want a dash mount that is undetectable there is the Escort Redline and the Beltronics Magnum. If you want undetectable remotes there is the Escort 9500ci and Beltronics Sti-r and Sti-r+

let's see if I get this

If your 8500 informs you that there K-band radar ahead, you believe it
    but
your 8500 informs you that it needs maintenance, you don't believe it

any idea what "check engine" means ?

Yes "check engine" means its really not your engine but your federally mandated pollution control equipment not working correctly, it has little to do with the engine. But that is another subject.

Know what, I also have my check engine light on, and I dont care. I aint looking for symphaties, that's my mother's job.

Thanks to everyone else that actually helped me. Seems like I'm gonna have to decide between the redline and the bell sti (driver or magnum, what's the difference? both seems to be undetectable.

    thanks!

The Redline has a better low noise amplifier (LNA) than the new Magnum. This gives the Redline better long range detection. The older Sti Drivers had the same LNA as the Redline. so if you get an old Sti-Driver and then up grade it to magnum, it will be equal to a redline. But I think its easier to just get a new redline.
