There seems to be some confusion about FCC test dates, and software updates for the hardware. In a Valentine forum, a gent just advised me of his rd FCC ID on the bottom of his unit. That's a tough place to start since when you buy a rd you can't see that FCC ID on the bottom. That number is critical to confirm the date a new detector hits the market. Cut to the quick here, before you buy ANY detector, Google its model number and go from there. As I've previously said, new hardware matters, and software updates are no substitute for crappy old wares.
