There are large signs as you enter the state that clearly warn motorists that RD's are illegal in VA. If you happen to miss the sign, expect to get a ticket, but if you have out of state license plates they may not cut your RD's power cord.

:shock: Never heard that one.....

I drive with my V1 at the very top of my windshield, you cant see it from outside the car. VG2's got nothing on me, and spectre is not going to be an issue for some time.

According to many sources here, VA isn't using Spectre yet. I contacted a VA State police and asked him (he was a brother of a friend) and he said as well that they aren't using it yet.

Asianfire, I live in Virginia and I understand your paranoia as I used to feel the way you do. Probably the only way that you'll get caught with your detector is if you get careless and they see it in your car. I don't know what unit you use but if it's a good one you're safe from RDD's.

At night, it's easy to conceal, that's a no-brainer. During the day (I have a V1 and a SOLO S-2) I'm discreet and watch the mirrors and ditches and look for unmarked cars and pull it down if I need to.

I've heard rumors that I-81 LEO's have pulled people over after suspecting cars of having an RD. Maybe they are using VG2 on lonely stretches and picking off ancient hardware, who knows.

Just be careful and be observant and you'll be fine.

Just noticed you have a BEL, don't worry about RDD's!

VA LEO's don't really need Spectre. For example, they could hide behind something and randomally tags cars with forward facing instant on after the car passes their location and look for brake lights.

I never hit the brakes if my detector goes full alert instantly. If it is instant on for speed measuring purposes, no need to brake they already got you. If it is to check for detectors you are done if you hit the brakes. I have experienced this type of "detector check" once in VA, so I'm sure the LEO's do this every once in awhile.
