Should I go to local stores and ask?

u wrong the x50 does not even detect sws only the passport7500 s x50 will not NO SWS.

good point but i dont think anyone is trying to humiliate them. we're just looking for honesty. to see if they try to help and say some legit stuff, like pretty much what 80% of the rat shack guy did minus the cobra talk. i mean they dont have to lie, if they dont know its not the end of the world. its more of a target on sales people and their sales tactics. the guy from rat shack wasnt that bad, he actually knew alot more than most of us when it came to bel and other stuff. so this stuff serves another purpose, it can be informative also. never know till u dig! plus we're not destroying anyone, not like its being aired on the channel 5 news to shame the guy and put him out of business. along with that outrun's not videoing them, just getting their voice. they will be OK relax :wink:

Well the last audio you heard if you heard it was from Best Buy. I did go to another radio shack but he just kept saying he didn't know and taking me over to the computer to look it up. (oh and sssshhhh!!! I saw a review on radioshacks website and it gave a very popular detector only one star!!)

Anyway I didn't air his audio. Just boaring. The guy at best buy was fun. He told me what he thought was best. He was correct. He even named 2 top detectors only making a pronounciation error. He knew what laser was, he new what pop was pretty much. Maybe on the jamming part he wasn't to good. I was trying to trick him up with the whole ky thing (jims idea) and said you mean Ka. So, he knew his stuff pretty good. I also saw a guy come in with his girlfriend and they started looking at the detectors. I turned on my mic and said hey know one has come to help me. I said which detector do you think is the best. He said X50 and pretty much left it at that.

Jerry540i I am not making fun of these people nor looking down on them for not knowing. I can quarntee you that I wouldn't know a lot of other things if I worked at some of these stores. But it gives me and idea of what people encounter when looking for a detector. Maybe that is why we see a lot of crappy cobras. Someone says yeah this is good and the consumer not knowing well goes with it. Who knows.

So, to answer your question I will be doing this over the next to weeks if it is interesting. It's kinda like a radio bit. Either it will fail or be good. I am going to hit multiple radio shacks and talk to other employees to see who tells me what. I can't wait for the guy that just feeds me so much of anything. I want that guy that says yeah it can jam, has 3 mile range. That stuff is just good.

I need some questions to ask these guys though so yall let me know. They can be smart stuff or just plain simple questions.

I have passed a sweeper on the side of the freeway with a K-band signal, not a false.

Well in your in luck to the whole admitting I don't know anything. I have been wanting to do this for a while. What prompted this was when I went to radio shack before I got a detector. I remember asking about them and they were trying to sell me one in a package on the wall. I thought ok some stores have these locked up and this one is only like 50 bucks and is on the wall so it must suck. I am not sure exactly what he was telling me about it at the time. But knowing what I know now I am going to go to one and ask some questions for the fun of it.

I don't trust a thing that the people at Radio Shack say! Most people that work there are 18 year olds who have experience changing batteries in their Gameboys! Especially the women that work there! Imagine asking them about a rd. Sure, radio shack has EVERY little electronic you need (wires, adaptors, etc) but I usually check out their website for the actual information I need and then just go there and tell them what I want to buy. I usually get a look like this: :shock: but I walk out with what I want. Sorry to all you Radio Shack employees...guess you just never worked in the R.S's around me. What's the starting salary of a R.S employee? I got a friend, he's not too swift, kind a slow, but needs a job! :lol:

If you do this, make sure you go to a few truck stops and ask them about their RMR's. God I hate seeing the damn things when I go to eat at the truck stop now and then!
