Try to get a low profile antenna.
Channel 19, breaker breaker.
Ok I guess I will get in here I cant stand it anymore.
CB channels are in the 26 MHZ range and it is AM
Police usually is in the 2 meter band area 148 MHZ and its FM
These 2 are not even close
If he was receiving police on a CB it had a scanner function and I have never seen 1 or he is a ham and knows what he is dong it may have been a icom mark whatever or something equivalent.
¼ wave for 26 MHZ is 102 inches that 8.5 feet!!! A CB with a small antenna or especially a threw glass antenna will not work well. You will be lucky to get 3 mile range. If you want a smaller antenna it needs to have a coil and those usually are 4 feet tall for a good one.
Oh and the cobra 25 is bullet proof
I'll keep the cobra close by for my next gun fight. What about channel 6? I remember as a kid watching my parents call in a drunk driver on the highway and the police came.
I'm annoyed, I bought a simple analog scanner from fleebay and the police here all use trunked or whatever that means. Saw a nice scanner, but it is $500 dollars right now...
If I don't see a nice one here under $100 I'll wait till I hit the US side.
What is the speed rating on the magnetic antennas? My daily average speed is 85 - 90 MPH?
Some PDs may monitor CB channel 9, but those are probably few and far between now. Easier just to pick up a cell phone.
I wouldn't trust a mag mount over about 75-80. My 2m antenna holds up fine with a mag mount driving 70-75, but its considerably smaller than a CB antenna.
Other than some of the more powerful CB's I have that are mobile radios, you may want to try a Handheld Midland CB radio. I have seen them only costing $40 at a Flyin J truckstop. Not sure where the nearest Flyin' J truck stop is to you?

STI + a CB Radio with a powerful antenna, not a bad combination at all
RW
I turst my Wilson 500 mag mount at decent rate of speed the magnet has been wind tunnel tested at 130-160mphQuote:
