And he went and did the same thing in another thread too. Amazing!

ok maybe I missed it but what did he do????
It's what he did NOT do, which is read the forum rules.
How did the language filter not squash that like it has in the past? (*pure total speculation* I can see the competitor thing in the RD forums but I don't think it competes with Roy in the CB genre so may it was allowed let slide? *end pure total speculation*)
to the OP so he doesn't get totally lost in all this.... Mount the 3' antenna in one of the red locations, it won't look a whole lot different but it'll make the difference between a CB that gets you decent reception, and wondering why you spent the time and money on such tings.
Oh yeah, there's an OP...
Top red location; anything else, I believe you would have diddle for a ground plane and you will hear static. These are not no-ground-plane antennas are they?
well i got a wilson 3' antenna.
ill post a pic tomorrow
I think a roof mount would actually permit the best reception because A) it's higher and B) it's usually a bigger (and more reliable) ground plane. If you do mount it on the trunk lid (which can be more convenient), you might also want to run a ground strap to bridge one of the hinges.
I agree the highest point is on roof for best reception but it will be inconvient and hit alot of tops and stick out like a sore thumb attracting unnecessary attention. Just look plain funny/strange.
Remember this is on a fiberglass body which is why I am thinking about a glass mount on either driverside or passenger side A pillars on windshield just below that blue tint line.
The reception has got to be better than the Watson W881 Super-Gainer handheld antenna inside the car attached to handheld that's currently being used right??.
Yes. Getting the antenna out of that metal shell of a car is a very positive move.
