Default Trunk Mounted CB Antenna on a fiberglass trunk

I have a Lil Will and I was looking into a more professional looking CB setup. If I get a NMO Mount and a good antenna and mount it on my trunk lip I am thinking I will still need to ground the antenna. Can I just use a wire and run it to the frame from the NMO mount ?

Here is my set up on a fiberglass trunk deck with a lip mount.
    I am using a 36" Firestick antenna.
Grounding the mount will not give you a proper ground plane, you will need to add what I call the "snowflake" it will give you a ground plane. My C.B shop told me about this and man what a difference before and after. I went from 3 miles tx & rx to 20 miles.
I also did a radio peak & tune.

Here is a better picture showing the full antenna.

    03 Cobra here.
I really like my set up and it's quick to put on and take off.
This set up will handle high speeds with no problem.
If you will notice I replaced the bumpers on the bottom of the lip mount with suction cups. This helps keep it in place during hard stopping and opening the trunk. Also I added a metal piece under the trunk deck so the set screws won't dig into the fiberglass.
Post pics of your set up after it's installed. By the way where did you mount the c.b?

I have a 520xl that is in between the console and the passenger seat. And I use my Bel speaker I got with the STi for my audio. Who makes the mount you used ?

How are your SWRs? Did you have to do anything special to get them down?

1:1 just as you see it.
The Firestik has a tune able tip and all I had to do was adjust the tip.
