Re: Cop issues ticket for warning others of speed trap
Flashing your lights to warn other drivers of a speedtrap also has the intent of getting compliance with the limit which should be the officers primary goal of enforcement. This shows you exactly where there priorities are.
By the way, how many of us have blown by another car at high speed and been angrily flashed after the pass? I have many times, so would that driver be susceptible to a ticket?
I don't flash indiscriminately, only if I see a vehicle clearly speeding up to a trap.

Exactly

Not to be selfish, but I keep LEO positions to myself. You benefit nothing by warning other people anyway. Just go about your own business and be glad you have more awareness.

That is the definition of "selfish"... genius.
Re: Cop issues ticket for warning others of speed trap
I don't see why they care. They'll just sit and get another one soon. I was running circles on a trap in town. About to go a 3rd circle and I see him with lights on, nabbed someone.

There is sometimes a fine line between "selfish" and self preservation. I agree with not doing anything stupid to call attention to yourself. Flashing you lights is a violation of the first and second rules of stealth, which is stupid, even if selfish.

Can't argue with that.

I have no problem being selfish. I could have warned many people about a LIDAR trap last night and didn't, not my problem.
Re: Cop issues ticket for warning others of speed trap
I never said I had a problem with being selfish either... I just said he defined exactly what he said he was not (in purposeful or otherwise commencement of) being.
Sheesh people... Engrish, ENGRISH I SAY!
Re: Cop issues ticket for warning others of speed trap
I went out for a morning cruise on a day off a few years ago. The LEO's a had laser trap set at the top of the hill. The way it is you come around a curve and bam top of the hill and you're done. I sat in my car parked facing the cars that were about to come around the curve. Drank my morning coffee and flashed for a good 10mins. Yah no what! NO one was slowing down. Well maybe a few but they had no shortage of victims. I gave up and went on my way. Some people can't be helped.
Selfish or not maybe letting the lemmings take the fall means less chance of a ticket for us?

Some people just don't care, they drive carelessly. People speed pass me when im going +10 as it is, and I don't even see any RD on their windshield lol. How sad.
