I'm suprised you Ontario guys don't wander around with an old Solo battery powered box in your pocket. It would drive them nuts.
Seems to me the next radar band is 65Gig ?
We need a Darwin award for the most noneffective gear. :)
I have always been told, that two detector in one vehicle will hinder performance, and maybe cause the other detector to false alert.[/quote]
I would like Radarroy to step in and give his...
Well, default factory window tint is becoming a problem for dash mounted detectors of any brand. How much of a problem is really untested but my own findings have been abit depressing. I have been...
Was the Valentine looking through a tinted window ? My stock honda window tint really degrades my dash mount detectors.
But they would need a ham ticket to use it.
Almost no X band activity here so I leave it on just incase.
Here is an example of an interceptor..
The frequency-hopping interceptors are special advanced reconnaissance wideband receivers capable of simultaneously tracking a large number of...
Yes certainly the feds could defeat it but nobody outside Military or CIA sorts
would have the gear to do it. It will certainly stand the test in a civilian
environment.
Sound like fun toys.

Had a new 1969 Cortina GT and bought a state of the art detector of the day. It used two penlight cells and was ofcourse X band only. Max range was about two city blocks.
I think alot of people would be suprised how much stock factory window tint
may affect detector performance.
As a ham I'm always interested in "RF" stuff and made some interesting Insight tint related tests. I recently bought a Kustom HR-12 radar gun off ebay and thought I'd try it out in the insight. I...
My first one was a small two AA battery thing in around 1969. Had a range of over a city block !!!:lol:
The Cig light socket is usually not a good way to go. The wiring harness for it snakes all over the place picking up the car's computers hash and the alternator whine . It also can (quite often)...
Wasn't the CW requirement axed recently in the US ? It was in Canada.
I wonder if the cost is due to changing over to temp compensation board and components or some such ?
Ramp up on mine seems very similar to my old 8500 which is just fine.
Can you describe the shape of it ? ie The Kustom Prolaser looks very similar to
the Kustom HR-12 K band radar gun. Visually I can't tell them apart from a distance.
Can anyone comment on how well this works ?
Tnx
I think some manufacturers may consider off axis detection a bad thing and try to minimize it. It is going to be a function of how tight the antenna's forward gain will minimize signals off axis like...
Sounds like you did some time in "Nam" ?
I was out the other day with my 9500ix and almost got clobbered by an ambulance flying through an intersection. He had his lights and siren on but my windows were up and the music drowned out his...
