Thanks for the vote of confidence! Fortunately my career has improved over the past few years, making the (significant) time required for display modification vs the few bucks I earned from it less...
I sold the last of the displays. Everyone who has already placed an order will receive their display shortly.
$80 plus $5 shipping, same colors. Email me to place your order.
I don't have time to modify displays anymore. I have two left that are available for immediate shipment. Thanks to all who have bought displays in the past.
Mike,
I would suggest you do some basic troubleshooting: RJ11 cables, etc. If you can confirm the display really doesn't work, send it back to me for verification.
I test every display before...
I just heard from dveloz. Don't know what the problem was, but he said his display works fine.
Possible if you have two highly directional antennae located several hundred feet or more from eachother, or a phased-array, or a rotating antenna. How much did you say you were willing to spend?
...
I have not received an email from you. My email is accessible through this forum. I test every display before it ships, yours included. Any chance there is an error on your end? It would seem...
Yes, think about it for a minute. Your flashlight trick is different.
Price is still $80.
That only works for paint, not light.
I'm sure that I can, but I don't really want to. What if I accidentally break it? Displays are cheap . . .
Sure, whatever you want. Email me if you want one.
Correct, you can mail your old display.
I also have a couple new colors of LEDs now, orange and white, if anybody wants something different.
LEDs only come in the colors you mention, and white.
The arrows are colored plastic, not a film coating.
yes, email me for purchase info.
I drill holes. If you want one with the red paint scratched off, I can change the LEDs for you, and you can scratch the paint . . .
Yes, they are still available. Email me.
I have never seen a real X alert in California, north or south bay area.
I have seen only one real K alert. The vast majority of LEO run Ka.
Just to let everybody know, I am still modifying these displays. Another box of V1 displays just arrived, so if anybody is interested email me.
I haven't seen those displays in other colors, but I haven't looked either. One would think they exist. The problem is, the red film won't let the light thru. Drilling holes for LEDs is easy, but...
All blue? Yes, it could be done, but the blue LEDs are expensive and it wouldn't gain you anything. But if you think it would be cool, fine.
The stock LEDs are red. Laser diodes are...
The V1 itself is probably a little more difficult to disassemble and modify, although I've never taken one apart so I can't be sure.
The main reason I don't modify the V1 and just do the remote...
It is cool. But I can't help but notice you're back to looking up (basically the same location) at the detector and taking your eyes off the road. Which was the whole point of the remote display.
Yes. The red film is on the outside, however.
