Re: STi-R Plus, LI Quad, Zaon MRX PCAS, BMW 335D
The STi-R Plus can be mounted low. As everyone else has said, move the LIs into the grill.

How readily accessible is that kill switch? Looks really difficult to turn it off whilst driving. I think its in a bad location.

Also, the grille does affect the STi-R reception negatively. The question is, is the remaining performance enough for you?
All reasons why I would love to participate in a South Florida meet-up after I change my front heads location. The added fun I can contribute would be aircraft testing if there are any others that are thinking about the PCAS units (I'll fly overhead in radio contact).

That's actually not the kill switch (looks the same). It is the switch to turn on parking control which isn't really necessary. The kill switch is on the right and underneath where the PCAS unit is. It's not in the pictures but the location is pretty cool.

Im not very familiar with what they use in those particular grills but if it is 100% plastic with no metallic paint the performance wont be affected to a degree that would be noticeable or if anything at all.

Zaon MRX PCAS that device has a built in antenna, did you have to get an external plug in antenna for it to work?

Yes, Zaon sells the extender on their site. You can ask them to make the cable any length.

3 series grills are plastic but the paint is chrome and supposedly will affect the performance. You can sand off the chrome and repaint with a matte black (looks good IMO) or get one already painted black from one of many vendors. But make sure the vendor does it correctly by sanding off the chrome first or the black paint will peel (and still have the performance robbing chrome). Better yet, forget that and just install the STi-R head in front of the lower grill.

Thanks. Do you think these will do the job?
