Default Your gps may be spying on you !

Unknown to many drivers, a number of GPS units store your "maximum speed" since you last reset the device's maximum speed log.

For example, the Garmin Nuvi 1450 stores it in your route information data (you may have to scroll down to see it). If you have never reset it, it will show the maximum speed you ever traveled (with the GPS turned on) since you began to use the device.

You can also use it to spy on other drivers of your car (providing they turn on the GPS when using your vehicle). So if a heavy-footed teen or friend wants to use your car, you can track their max speed after they return it, if they had the GPS turned on and don't know enough to reset it.

That is hardly spying. It is just a statistic. Not like it emails out to the Police who send you a ticket.

I saw mine last time I undated it. My top speed was 329 miles per hour. I don't think that's too accurate.

In my last ticket , the gps showed the exact same speed they
    acquired me 83 mph in 65 ..

Maybe you left it on while you were on an airplane .

    That's coming, Comrade.
Coming, google TomTom selling the info to the police in Europe and Austrailia or New Zealand so the police know where to set up speed traps and speed cameras. It downloads and sends your speed data back to TomTom when you update firmware, maps, voices, icons, etc. Having a max speed feature is hardly spying, especially when you're in control of resetting it, most people with OBDII ports have that same information stored on their car key.
