    Default R7 first impressions

The build is large, and heavy for suction cups. Blendmount, or it's best to mount it just to the left or right of the rear view mirror with the power cord over the mirrors back, thus making for a less perilous trip to the floor if the cups fail.

The tiny 2.2" diagonal OLED display could be much larger and less shadow recessed.

There is wasted space where the Uniden logo is. Behind the logo inside is the rear detector, however, it still looks like an ugly non-functional in your face advertisement.

The GPS mark button on the side is next to the mute/dim button, difficult to reach, and ridiculously located. You'll be muting or dimming when you wanted to mark, especially in the dark.

A headset jack at first thought seems silly if you're the only one in the vehicle. This feature should be on all rd's, to stem annoying other passengers. A nice family friendly feature to be sure.

Things I really like about the R7:

    1) Range, of course
    2) Huge OLED screen
    3) MultaRadar/RedFlex detection
    4) Audio
    5) Amount of info displayed

    Things that could be improved:

    1) Build seems a little chintzy, could be more substantial at this price
    2) Big jump up in price from R3 for directional information
    3) Power-cord reliability
    4) BSM filtering could be a little better, but they are getting very good especially when you consider MultaRadar capability.
    5) Like most other detectors, struggles to detect Gatso RT-4 (but GPS still can alert to stationery locations).

    Overall Takeaway:

One of my favorite to drive with.

    "Huge OLED."

"Big jump up in price from R3 for directional information."

I'm a bit myopic. Bigger is better for the blind using other GPS devices.

Nailed it! Price is $999.00 visions.ca.

    VN technical review Veil.
