    Default Rolex

Hey, speaking of fake Rolexes, I bought one for $70.00 in Mexico. It looks great - it even sweeps - it gives me a rash on my arm, though, so I can't wear it!

Holy Cow guys... Who would have thought arrows would become such a hot topic. My point to posting was that if your a V1 owner don't be afraid to speak up that this feature is totally awesome and makes driving and using the RD priceless, and is an excellent reason to consider the V1. I do frankly get tired of folks saying the arrows are useless and slamming the V1 when in fact they are awesome. I completely agree with Walt, that if you don't like the feature or it doesn't fit what you want then why buy it? I understand that all too well, and you won't find me attacking your choice for a RD. I think when Valentines patents expire here in a few years we will see some pretty incredible competition with multiple antennas, more advanced displays, greater sensitivity, with even more information. I would love to see a unit with a GPS and full maps overlays and the RD showing the distance and location of the radar on the map... That is if it can be done without getting too cluttered to figure out quickly. Combine the features of multiple components with advanced radar location features sounds awesome to me. Valentine brought a significant advancement to the RD market, and I am frankly surprised we have not seen more advancements in features, capabilities, and integration of components considering how long it has been.

I really like that bogey counter function on the Belscorts and I would love to see the combination of directional location with the greater detail provided with the counter per band. The V1 only shows me that there are multiple bands detected and a total count, but not per band. More information at a glance is better in my book. I say don't dumb it down, give me all the info and let me sort it out.

My point on the price factor wasn't to be an attack. It is mearly to point out that we shouldn't be attacking on the basis of cost. I would love to pay less for the V1. Frankly the cost difference really is large enough to make anyone think twice regardless of your financial status. The point I was trying to make is that the cost is worth it because the functionality really is that much better. If cost is an issue then by all means don't hesitate to buy the Escort or the Bel. They really are very good detectors and you won't regret it. Any detector is better than no detector, but buy the best that you can afford. The good news is that the features that Valentine has locked up at this point will be coming to other RD's in the not so distant future. If cost isn't a factor today then I can highly recommend buying a V1 as it just may save your bacon.

    Have fun, drive safe,

Excellent choice Longsnowsm! I'm glad you bought what you like, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of use from the arrows - it sounds like you will. My post was in no way intended for you. You know the type it's for ;-)

I'm sure you get tired of people slamming arrows, as I tire of those who try to shove it on me.

I'm sure you'll enjoy many years of service from your V1.

those that find the arrows useless are just kidding themselves.

frankly, I think its funny when I see someone saying "i dont use the arrows." I laugh. I believe it really boils down to what you can or can't afford.

one tries to justify why NOT to buy it..... thats like me justifying not to buy an 360 Modena because it uses 8 gallons of oil.

I have recently purchased every single top notch radar detector from every company to test(exception to Early Warning detector) and I bet anything I'll stick with the X50 after I'm done because the V1 falses like crazy over here in Seattle. We'll see....I may be wrong.

Oh yeah. Just like it. People like you are so set in their opinions that trying to convince you to see it any other way is just a waste of breath (or keys?). So I won't even try.

/me adds Brent_ Vino to his ignore list.

That doesn't mean I won't talk about you though!

Stupid-azz pissing contests aside, I'm still kind of wondering what's going to happen with this rumored K-band filtering on the V1 in "L," since I don't like using the built-in automatic muting...
