Does anyone run this? If so is it worth it buy a v1 for 200 for 1.7?

Put the serial number into the VR website and they will tell you how much it will be to upgrade to the current version. I bet it will be around $275. Cheaper to buy a new one. Do you know if the 1.7 in question has the band indicators? Rear laser? Etc... there were many versions of 1.7.

On the surface, I would say $200 is too much for a 1.7 I got a 3.813 for $225 so the deals are out there if you are patient and look.

Yes, V1 Dave still runs his version 1.7. There area few others that lurk around here also I believe.

is v 1.7 legitmate radar or is it a waste? Im running a vector 965 but have wanted a v1 but cannot afford it unless i use 1.7 Is it worth it??

IMHO the 1.7 is the best V1 produced. It just works great without the laser falses & bugs the POP/J models have.

V1 1.7 is super cool. I got one, don't use it any more. But one thing you'll not like depending on the model of 1.7 - you may not have a band indicator. SO you may realy be lost if its false or real alerts.


for instance my area generaly only uses Ka, but you won't know Ka vs x or anything.

how does that work? if im gettin a ka alert it wont tell me what band it will just use the arrows and beep?

The trick to finding a good 1.7 is to do just what you did, type in the serial number to find out if it has mode memory, if not then it's not worth it.

Front laser only did not come with band ID, someone before you paid to have that put on like I did, or it was an older version and they paid for the major upgrade around 99-2000.

92-96 were the early versions that had no mode memory, weaker X, much weaker Ka, falsed more to Ka.

I prefer 1.7 97-2000 for the same reasons that Won said, 1.7 always led in laser detection yet VR improved it with the 1.8 prism laser sensor that falses much more, then endless glitches that followed POP circuitry.
