Ok I'm posting info as to how my V1 works (just be aware I've had it for about 5 days now).
I don't want to doubt the greatness of the V1 but I think there is something wrong. Honestly, the V1 hasn't picked up more than 1 or 2 signals in the 5 days that I have had it. It has picked up 1 X band signal that went all the way to max strenght but it was a false alert and same with K.
I was driving on the highway when there was a cop in middle median sitting in his car. Although it may have been quite possible his radar was off, I'm pretty sure it wasn't because he seemed to observe the cars a lot (maybe as a visual judgment...who knows). thank God I slowed down because I was doing close to 88mph on a 65mph zone. I have had this call and another one simliar to it.
So my question is, is there something wrong with my V1? I know that it's not a cop detector but a radar detector. Regardless, even if I get false alerts, I rather get any signal to be on the safe side. I have kept it always on A mode, I have nothing obstructing its view and have mounted it on the windshield. Its brand new straght from Valentine One. I plan to go to a local walmart soon to test if atleast X band works or not by picking up the signal near the doors.
If you have more tips or what not, please tell me. Thanks for your help

It's funny that you mention that, because I drove past a cop sitting in the median on 287 this morning, and got no alert from the V1. Where did you see the cop?
Honestly, I haven't picked up many signals that weren't false alerts either, but I have for certain been saved from 2 speed traps and I've had my V1 for just less than a month. There might not be anything wrong with it, just give it a bit of time, and it will prove itself to you. :D

Hey...Actually no it wasn't 287 but 287 is a haven for LEO's.
Anyways I was driving on 80East and then to 280East.
And yeah I'm not saying the V1 sucks or anything but just a bit concerned. I know how great it works because my friend has one. Considering it has only picked up only 2 signals in 5 days of both local and highway driving has me concerned a bit. Luckily I wasn't pulled over but I definitely saved by using my own visual judgment.

I just want to mention that I'm a little happier about my V1 then before. I went to my local Walmart and thank God it lit up like a christmas tree. Which ended my fears that nothing worked.
And on my way back home (287 S for you NJ people), my V1 picked up an X signal. At first it was weak, pointing ahead so I thought it was false but it kept picking up stronger and stronger so I slowed down (was going around 85 on 55) and then I saw a LEO in the median. I was so happy since I knew I would have been caught but at the same time, after hearing people's stories about how far their range is, I only started to get the first X band signal about .5 mile away. I'm not complaning a lot as it really saved my ass but still could have been better if it was further range.
Any tips for further range? I mounted my V1 right under my rear view mirror so that it has no obstruction going through the rear windshield. Do I need to mount it higher or something?
