No, that's the way the V1 is. You can reduce the amount of alerts but you'll never get it to be quiet except for police radar.Quote:

Otherwise you just end up making purchases based on hype. If you don't like false alerts then make it a priority to buy a RD that is known for its filtering (i.e. not the V1). I have sent my V1 back to Valentine and I have already purchased the passport 9500ix. After using it for the first 3 days I am very pleased with it.
For anyone wanting to flame me for replacing the V1 with the passport, everyone has different wants and needs and to me the passport is what I am happy with.

Well, this thread is sort of about several topics. Heheheh. (That's my only comment on all of that.)
I think the OP is legitimately frustrated. He reports he did some research, but I don't recall reading him say he spent hours reading this site, which would have been probably most informative, but heck, I thought I did my research too by reading on line reviews of the RX 65 before I bought it.
Can't blame anyone if they only discover AFTER the fact that THIS is the forum to really learn stuff. That was true in my case.
So, he did some reading, correctly learned of the strengths of the V1, but is confronted with a racket and a somewhat steep (though none too high) learning curve to tame the noise so it's a useful tool.
The awkward-access programming features really are an essential first step. Get comfortable with them, because you will, no doubt, experiment and revisit your chosen settings.
If you could safely turn off X and K band, that would solve 95% of your problems, but sounds like you can't turn off either.
I third (or fourth) the motion to look into a Cheetah c100 to interface with your V1. It's a symbiotic synergy of RD technology. Forgive me if I'm repeating (I didn't read a number of posts carefully), but the idea here is the V1 alerts are wirelessly sent to the Cheetah, which can be set to "filter" if and how it reports the V1 information.
For example, choose "city mute", and instead of all the beeping, you get a polite voice that just says "X band" and "K band."
You can set the Cheetah so that radar reports are not even mentioned when you are below a certain speed. This is how I've chosen to deal with K band, which is only used for door openers in the city, but about 10% of police radar on the highways.
I set the cheetah to keep silent below 70mph. This setting only affects X and K bands. Ka and Laser reports always come through.
Apart from this function, Cheetah is GPS with a database of redlight and speed cameras, traffic accident blackspots, etc.
If these options are not appealing, then there is that other detector with the built in GPS that marks locations of false alarms and mutes them. Cant remember the model. Is it the SuperDuper 9500ixGps, or something like that.
Don't give up on radar detection just yet. You're almost there.
