Without the option to Lock that out with almost as good rang :p me I pick the Ix
If you don't believe that the V1 is the best windshield RD made then look at all the tests that have been done. Make sure you check out GOL Tests and see where the IX places in the tests. The only RD's out there that can beat the V1 on range is the CI and the STI-R.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
I think the Valentine One is the best windshield mount detector ever made, and many others will agree. No other windshield mount detector combines excellent sensitivity, lightning quick responsiveness, excellent ramp-up, tells you where the source is coming from and how many.

There is no such thing as a cop detector ok. The V1 does not false, actually it is the least false prone detector to date, you can run pop on and with the new ones you will rarely get a Junk signal, falsing means reporting a signal the is not radar (like other leaky detectors, radio towers, cellphone towers, etc), so in that sense the V1 is least false prone. Don't believe me, turn pop on any whistler or belscort and run them, I bet it will alert to pop or pulse from non radar sources more then a v1 will.
oh it don't false? if what you just said was true then all of them don't the only Radar I want an alert from IS one that reads In Mph
V1 range isn't that much better we Have done test a V1 got my ix By 0.01 of a mile
That was on a 35.5 Ka band gun also

this is getting off topic. The topic is about some mono cell who got hung up on by some PMT chick and he's out for revenge in every post. Now that he's done with the V1 he's getting a 9500ixdzsp because it locks out Radar and the Customers services at bell would never hang up on him when he rings them to complain about getting a ticket when it lock's out a real Cop:D

Re: I took my Valentine Back
Jeeze, what did I miss? I will admit that the V1 nowadays only costs maybe $30 bucks to make (I have no actual knowlege of what it costs to make a V1) V1's response would be why mess with a product that kills the rest even if its old?
A product called Ravelco, which is an anti theft device is the same way. They don't want to change anything or even get with the times even though their product is far superior to any one elses. Auto Security You Can Count On With The Ravelco Antitheft Device
Imagine if V1 put some R&D money towards GPS and Laser? They would be blowing out Escort and Beltronics. I don't know why these types of companies do this stuff.

LOL its probably true. I know how much Belscort dealers pay and they aren't as "monopolized" VR. Belscort dealers make anywhere from 100 to 500 dollars per device sold. VR can't use GPS because Belscort has it patented? I think. I really don't think Mike is concerned with keeping with the times anymore. The guy has over a million dollars in cars and donated 50k in the last election. I don't think he's too concerned with outselling the other companies and to make end meet.
I think our friend bksnoopy's time is limited so there is no reason to reply to his one post, posted 20 times.

I'm talking about everything.... Just think of all the design and engineering auto companies go through to make a far superior product. Granted the RD/Laser market is cornered by 3 manufacturers so the competition isn't as big. Why change when you don't have to ,even if your clients want something new?
A perfect example is Escort. Just look at all the progress they've been able to achieve over the years. I mean, Valentine won't even make different colored displays. LED technology's been out for many many years and they still don't understand that maybe other colors could help improve their product than just the RED.
The V1 is a great product and I actually just bought a used one for $250 that's only been out of the box a couple times.
At some point the V1 will die because everything is going to GPS or an alternative locating devices. Radar will be a thing of the past. Do you really think Radar and Laser will be around during 2040? I doubt it. I bet Escort will have a new device during that time and I will probably buy one.
It would be nice to have a fully integrated V1 Laser Jammer along with a V1 RD. I wonder if Mike has any contacts in that department.... Probably not since they've been making the same product since 1992 and see no turn to make anything else.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
After reading all that I just kept waiting for the rental car analogy. If you have ever taken a rental car back without the gas tank filled you pay a pretty steep price on that gas. I feel this is the same sort of thing- you are being penalized for not returning the product in the condition you received it. Period. If you were concerned about it, first, don't modify it until you know you are going to keep it, second, call and see if you were going to be penalized, thirdly, replace it yourself before returning it at the $13 price. Any one of the three would have helped you save your money, time and frustrations.
Good luck with the ix as it seems to be a nice device. I recommend not modifying it before you know you are going to keep it. ;) But I think A.A. pretty much straightened you out on that front.

 We could care less about what will be used in 2040. We care about what is being used now which is radar and laser. Right now, the V1 gets the job done against radar. I predict laser will be around for quite awhile actually and will eventually be used more often than radar. We'll see.

I hear ya loud and clear, hence why I bought a V1. I see no progress for the future though... one of the great things about capitalism is that you can fail.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
Radar has already been with us for more than 30 years.
Bouncing radio waves or light waves off of a vehicle are probably the least expensive and most reliable speed detection methods that physics will allow the lone police officer to possess. I predict that before they go away, we'll have a nationwide network of average speed cameras that can track you from any one point to another and mail you a ticket if you covered a particular distance more quickly than you should have.

I forget what state is was, but a governor wanted to put speed devices that would be tracked by GPS to calculate speed. If you were caught speeding you would get mailed a ticket. It didn't even get to the state congress because it was soo ridiculous.
Just wait though..... Big government is coming.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
Sooner or later California will presure the manufacturers to make the black box accessible post accident and for some people real time.
Since a GPS, depending on it's timing and resolution is not as a reliable as a black box is as it knows motor and wheel speed.
GPS up a mountain may show me as doing a few miles an hour through the switchbacks but the Black box could show me doing 120 MPH :(
Maybe one day we will be forced to give evidence against ourselves with our smart GPS enabled RDs

Yes I tried all the tricks in this forum and yes it has done a lot to quiet down my V1, thanks for the help.
Just the other day, I was driving with 3 other people in the car and as we drove around in the restaurant car parking lot, my V1 starts going crazy and the comment was "what the hell was that? there's no speed trap in the parking lot, lol. a lot of good that does!" I knew the deal....but I was still embarrassed. No reason for a radar detector to blast full alerts at the highest volume going 5 mph.
Again, one of the tricks is to integrate the V1 with a Cheetah. Did you try that one? The Cheetah is particularly helpful in parking lots, because even after you exceed the 30 second K mute on the V1, or even if that feature doesn't kick in because of the strength of the K band, the Cheetah will mute the audio alert even if the lights are going off like crazy on the V1, as long as you are going below the minimum speed (like 35 mph) for audible alerts to kick in.

Actually, if you have enough money you don't have to wait until 2040 for a fully integrated RD, jammer and gps. It is available now in the form of the Cheetah. You can integrate both the RD and the jammer with the Cheetah, and get all audio alerts from the Cheetah, which also has gps and gives you the gps alerts. I chose not to integrate the jammer with the Cheetah, because I don't lose anything by having it as a standalone system, but the point is you can get what you describe ... today. As for 2040, I'll more likely be complaining about those young whippersnappers on those dagnabbed hot rods, as I peer out from under my spectacles, than testing the limits of the latest countermeasures.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
This thread is way off topic Data.
What gets me going are peoples motives, bksnoopy has a agenda as has been proven. I have NP with real V1 issues in the forum. Before you guys even knew about this forum. I was reporting V1 problems. Just because my way of letting people know is some what less than polite than you forum freaks would write. Let me suggest this. If the readers out in radar detector land had to put up with Data and Spock reply's all day long what a boring read that would be. So I'll keep on shooting when necessary so put that in your pipe and pass it around.

Got my 9500ix today. Boy, talk about UP-TO-DATE. Did you guys know that along with the GPS it has SWS (safety warning system)? This is a very cool option that works off the twenty four orbiting satellites. It has 60 warnings allocated. Warnings like "work zone ahead", " road closed ahead follow detour", "center line closed ahead" plus many more warnings built in.
Built in TSR Signal Ranking Software
Easily Updated by usb/computer .. New red light camera and fixed speed camera locations
With this latest model you don't need any external power supply while hooked to your computer.
Read this test if you still don't believe Valentine 1 is not OLD SCHOOL. RadarTest.com escort 9500i vs. Valentine one. This test should at least make you open your mind and admit that Valentine 1 is behind times and needs to incorporate newer, readily available technology.
BTW ... I never said I talked to Ms. Valentine. I talked to the supervisor (initials are A.A). The supervisor is the one that has a very short temper. It could be that she was showing off in front of her employees.
Everyone have a Merry Christmas
Also: The 9500ix does cost a little more $499. but the factory gave me a $80. trade in for an old radar detector that I haven't used in years. .. Peace!

I'd have an agenda too if someone knicked me $50 for something that costs $13 on their own website.
