I was driving on "a highway" last night. For about a mile the left lane was closed for construction. After the lane opened up and the construction zone ended, I switched to the left lane but quickly got blocked by an idiot from West Virginia who just moved out there and didn't pass anyone. I passed him on the right, requiring a speed of about 85 or so (in a 65), and I was about to continue on my merry way until I heard the bogey lock tone...
The V1 had been alerting to a K-band speed sign on the other side of the road, and as soon as I heard the bogey lock tone I looked down and saw just the forward arrow and just the K-band indicator. That never happens there, so I coasted down to 65 just in time to pass the PSP trooper in the middle that must have been looking for idiots like me in a hurry to make up time after getting out of the construction...
This is my first real save that I wouldn't have had with a lesser detector. In every other encounter so far I was either warned by the CB first or there were no falses to contend with (and the cops were using C/O or really sloppy I/O so I didn't even need the range).
