    Talking yay :)

Just wanted to say that I've been rolling with the V1 for a week or so now - ordered from VR and drove down across the border to Point Roberts, WA to pick the thing up from a mail forwarder. Paid a cool 50 bucks in taxes to bring it across.

It's installed with the CD, hardwired with everything tucked away inside the steering column. CD sits in the instrument panel, above the tachometer.

So far, so good. I've been lurking this forum for awhile, my main concern was that the thing would annoy the hell out of my girlfriend - but driving in city is really not bad at all.

I've programmed the K and X mute setting as per the other threads in this forum, and set my mute volume to almost zero. Since the CD sits right in my field of vision, even if I have loud music playing, I can still easily see anything that the v1 picks up without having to actually hear it go off.

Sure, it goes crazy when I drive into a mall parking lot or past a police station, but I could care less - if I'm stuck behind an LEO running radar for a long period of time and it really bugs me, I just hit the mute button, or just turn the full alert volume down.

Just have to remember to turn it back up. Also have to remember to switch out of small L mode when I hit the highways. Getting into the habit of things.

The day after I installed the thing, I'm driving home from work - come off of the highway, switch from A to l, waiting at a light to turn. As soon as I do, the v1 alerts to about 5 bars of C/O Ka. So instead of really gunning the acceleration (as I usually do), I hit the PSL and watch as the signal strength climbs.

about 15 seconds later, Ka hits full blast, arrows point to the sides, I glance to my left and see two LEO's sitting in a parking lot perpendicular to the road. Ka signal fades away maybe a quarter mile down the road.

So, I speed up, it's a beautiful day out, get about a mile or so and the V1 alerts to 1 bar C/O Ka, from the rear. I figure one of the LEO's has turned out of the parking lot and is heading the same direction as me, a mile or so back. There's mild traffic, so I really don't care much, there's probably a dozen or so cars between me and him and I'm only doing about 10+ PSL.

I glance in my rear view mirror just out of curiosity - no LEO in sight. However, this is this guy driving an old beat up matte-black dodge truck who is weaving between lanes trying to get somewhere in a hurry. This is a city road, 50km/h limit (35mph), 2 lanes of traffic in either direction - traffic lights at every quarter mile.

So, Mr. Weave eventually makes it right behind me. Rear Ka is still at 1 to 2 bars. I'm coasting up to a red light - Mr. Weave cuts the guy off in the lane to my right in order to be right beside me, first in line at the red.

He starts rolling forward as the other light turns yellow, and of course floors it as soon as he can. He gets directly in front of me, and so I decide to match his speed and just follow about 15+ PSL.

Not long after, the bogey tone goes off and I see 3-4 bars of Ka in front, as well as the weaker rear-facing Ka source. So I slow right down to PSL and watch as Weave drives on. The young kid in the Mercedez Benz behind me doesn't know what's going on, so he passes on my right, and then gets in front of me. I'm not picking up any more forward-facing Ka, but I'm still weary, so I get into the right lane and stick to the PSL.

A couple seconds later, the V1 screams with 7 bars of forward facing Ka. I see an LEO coming in the opposite direction flick his lights and pull a U turn in front of me.

Poor Mr. Weave. I'm thinking the 12ft extension ladder jutting out of the back of his bed with no flagging tape probably did not help him get away with just a warning.

That's my first real V1 story. Sorry for all the unneeded details - but like they say, you always remember your first time, right?

Anyway, I've read so many of the real experiences and perused the video forum on a daily basis, it feels like I've owned the damn thing for months already.

So, thanks guys, I finally have my own set of arrows. It was the right decision. I can't imagine not really knowing where a source is coming from, or not knowing how many there were.

Looking forward to sharing more experiences with you.

I've had mine for about a week and a half too, and was braced for a lot of annoying falses driving around town -- but surprisingly, it really hasn't been that bad at all!! And the arrows are great on the freeway.

I've found the falses are far less annoying than other RDs because there's an arrow pointing to the location. Programming K band muting and running in little "L" mode around town makes for a quiet ride.
