Thanks for the help. I do plan on getting jammers, just waiting on a couple things.

Unfortunately I didn't get my V1 before I was sited for my first speeding ticket in decades. Got it on 495S at Exit 21, Hokpinton. I had just taken out my Mustang from its winter storage and bingo! I was clocked doing 87 at 1099 feet.

Now I'm frantically reading everything I can on the NMA site (motorists.org) to see how to fight it.

Ouch. I may be able to help you out. Depending on how we clocked you (radar laser...etc) I'm assuming it was laser since it was from so far out. There a number of things you can look for like: mistakes written on the ticket, what gun what used...etc. You can also request a copy of the last time the gun was certified. And obtain a copy of the manual of the radar/lidar gun.

For example: If a lidar gun's manual suggests that gun be used to clock vehicles no greater than 2,000 ft and the officer clocked you at 2,200 ft the court would see that as user error due to the fact that the gun should be no used to clock vehicles no greater than 2,000 ft. There have been a couple of users on here who have won their court battles for things similar to this.

I was clocked by radar and "estimated". I understand I need to request all those documents.

I was on the left lane, the trooper was on my far right, after the exit ramp, perpendicular to traffic. My main defense will be that he could not have CONTINUALLY tracked me for the required 1/4 mile (1320 feet).

A general question: I realize I don't yet know which radar he was using, but does he hold it in his hand or is it mounted in the cruiser in a fixed position? He was in his cruiser.

honestly, it could be either, but i believe most radars are generally mounted where lasers arent (due to lasers needing to point at certain parts of your plate/lights)

actually, they could have tailed you for a peroid of time and used that, but if he wrote radar, it's probably right. I thought I could argue against radar too until I've seen how it worked on youtube. It just needs to point at a certain direction, and if anything goes past where its pointing, it'll highlight the speed, then highlight the speed the LEO set it up to, so it can pinpoint out speeders (not like its hard to see w/ your eyes)
