Please explain exactly how SAVVY utilizes ESP,since you know so much about it and Valentine Research hasn't stated how that I can find.

Would this override K-band muting?
Here is what the description reads.
"
So you can keep your attention where it belongs, Savvy turns down the volume of V1’s alerts automatically at low speeds. Savvy has just one control, a thumb wheel to set a speed threshold. Below your set point, the audio comes through on V1’s Muted Volume (set this with V1’s Control Lever). Above the threshold you hear the normal loudness you’ve set with the V1’s Control Knob.
SAVVY stays nearly out of sight down near your steering column where it serves as V1’s power source. It replaces the Lighter Adapter or, in “hiddenwire” installations, the Direct-wire Power Adapter. Just plug Savvy into the OBD diagnostic port, standard on every new car and light truck built since January 1, 1996. Then plug V1’s power cord into one of two RJ-11 jacks (the other works with the Concealed Display or other V1 accessories). The thumbwheel has eight setting between 15 and 65 mph. Choose one, or select AUTO, which mutes all alerts, or choose NONE to eliminate automatic muting.

Thank you for pointing that out. That is a bit hard to find,a link to a PDF file of the user manual. That should have been in the regular description.
I don't like that if you unplug your V1 "so it doesn't get stolen" it will take 30 seconds of "getting acquainted" every time you connect it.
The V1 doesn't require any "acquanting". The Savvy does. Since it's a Generic OBDII device, it has to go through protocols to figure out which one your vehicle uses, I am sure that is the reason that unplugging the Savvy would result in requiring it to get acquainted again. If it's left plugged in (even if you remove your V1), then it seems it uses the vehicle's power as a keep alive memory, allowing Savvy to remember the protocol used and simply operate right away when the engine is started.
So in short, leave the Savvy plugged in, remove the V1 (as you would any direct power source), and it won't require that extra time.
Wow, I was really excited about the Savvy until Rags explained the user guide.
I don't know how VR can say it works with all V1 models when this guide explained that if you are not running 3.892 or higher, or ESP equipped
"a muted warning stays muted regardless of speed"
So, anything under 3.892 or non ESP is the equivalent of turning down the regular volume for all alerts. (no speed setting option)
So why buy a Savvy for older models when you can simply turn down the regular volume yourself? (having lights only)
User guide should have read warning: this device is useless for older versions!
You got it wrong.
This is what happens: If a warning is muted on older models, the warning stays muted until the alert goes away (I assume for the standard 10 seconds). After the warning goes away, future warnings occur at full volume if you are above your set speed.
So it does speed sensitive muting, it just doesn't have the ability to CANCEL the mute.
