V1 w/ 3.818 Software/Upgrade question or Sell

It seems there are some V1's with Cult followings!


I bought mine a number of years ago and had it upgraded a few years ago. It is now 3.818.

Should I get it upgraded, leave it alone, get it "tuned", or sell and buy a new one?

Check on the Valentine site and see how much it will cost to send in your unit and they will send you a new one. Also put in your serial number, and see what improvements there are with a new unit compaired to yours. The newer units are much faster than yours, a little better on Ka, and maybe better on laser. So ask yourself, does your unit perform to your standards and needs?....

Mine is 1.8 POP2. The site said 1.85 was available for $200. These things sell very well used on Ebay. Mine works perfectly. I was considering selling mine and just buying a new one. It seems that some people send them in and get them tuned every year or so.

Some folks are a little paranoid and need to know that their unit is always at top performance, a good ideal I guess sometimes. Just figure up the cost of each option. One can save a few dollars on a 30 day returned unit which many like....

I would sell it, but you can always put a reserve on eBay to make sure it sells for enough to be worth it. Also, keep in mind you're going to be paying almost 10% in fees on eBay/PayPal after everything is said and done.

That's a good point. About 12% now.

9% Ebay and 2.9% PP.

I think the deal about the crystal control got me hooked on buying another one. Then 10% off for a return model and we might just be there.
