I've had the mount for my V1 installed for years and it held up my older unit just fine, the earlier one with all the laser stuff on the bottom which was much heavier. It's been stuck to the windshield from 15 below zero to 100 degrees out.

Does sound to me like you might have gotten a bad unit - if you give VR a chance though I think you will see that their customer service is darned good.

Yeah I got the mounting issue resolved, so thats done with... but again the scratch on the units display (even though it was bought 'brand new') and the front antenna issues... really just displeased with it.

I really dont wish to have my money back, I just want a V1 that I know can do exactly what V1's are capable of doing (I have used older ones from my friends and the .826 was supposed to be even better)... as of right now this is not how I feel about this particular unit...

I will call VR service and techs see what they say about the issues, I really dont want to send in the unit (at my expense-shipping-) to get the scratched display replaced (which shouldnt be scratched on a new unit) and then have them say 'no your unit is fine' regaurding the front antenna... when infact I already paid 400 for a brand new unit, that came with the 'scratch', and I still wouldnt trust the unit in the performance department.

Anycase I will update as to what happens with the situation... I fully believe that VR will help me sort this situation out, as everyone claims they have outstanding service/techs.

Yeah I got transferred to one of the techs and threw everything I had at him ------ he seemed calm logical and honest I even heard units in the background they were turning on and off. I would say give them the benefit of the doubt until you have a reason not to, follow the process they outline ------ and when you call see if you can get a ticket number to reference with your case so you can track or read the tech comments when and if they inspect your unit. The line you call in on first goes to sales ------ they try and answer your question ------ and when its obvious you know what you are talking about they transfer you over to the techs. I told them I had a constant on Ka encounter with a LEO on a 2 mile striaght away and the detection range seemed very limited blah blah. The tech took apart the scenerio and after understanding I wasn't interested in my money back; but rather assurance of performance he answered my questions for about 20 minutes. After the convo I decided I needed to get a number of concrete scenerios before making the call whether to send it in or not.

I thought so too, but then I had an encounter with FPD using instant-on K at night. The real K band threats are pretty strong, and it broke my 4 LED muting threshold very easily - and from a good distance away.

You mentioned before that you would prefer an across the board automute.
So now do you still prefer the initial automuting alert of the Belscort to the V1 time delay?
X band has it by default, K band does it as an option and why would you want to automute Ka band?
Once you automute a signal on a Belscort I don't believe that there is a way to bring the regular volume back?
With a V1 there are three ways to bring it back.

I highly doubt they will say your front antenna is fine air, I think most people would agree they have top quality customer service, I think at least 2 people spoke with Mike when they called. :shock: No bout the front antenna should be performing as good if not better than the rear.

i yea i have had good service with them i didnt get to talk to mike tho :( Non the less V1 is a Great Dectector I give it its Range is the best and thats the only reason i bought it not many people would like it inturns of there silent cobra due to the fact that this is a vary interactive unit witch i dont caressing it at all lol -Knox Mike if u read this from one Mike to another Please Upgrade the filtering system i know falses are always going to be around but it would be a little to pull into H-E-B with out 7-8 bogeys and L cuts those down to 3 -4 non the less i think is why i see alot of cops camp out near big stores like this.

well i sold the v1 3.826 to have enough money to buy a ka gun thats why.
as for the x50 i sold cause i was not to impressed with the instant-on hits on it why sometimes the x50 would not alert to very quick talon ka hits and the v1 alerts all the times it was better for me for instant-on hits but anyway does not matter anymore i sold it to and also the #1 reason is to have enough cash for a v1 1.7 i know its old model but i hear the v1 1.7 are pretty good colse to the newer model in radar range. anway right now i am useing my sisters bel rx65 and she is useing my express 795 right now she is pissed though i wonder why? :lol: :) anyway i gave it to her for her birthday but i still have owner ship to it :P .

Yeah I was not pleased about the scratch(terrible thing to see when you first open the box)... no its not huge, no it doesnt have any adverse effects on performance, but its deffinantly not what you would expect from a brand-new unit.

the scratch probably came from one of the packagers droping it on the ground. who knows. As for the suction cups yes its best to put the mount up first and press on the suction cups very well to get out all the air pockets. Then mount the detector. Doing that I've never had one drop on me. Although I have had one hang by one cup on cold days i believe in the past. That goes for any detector though with suction cups.

what did vr say about this issue?

VR said if they deem it a manufacturers defect, and that it is a clearly noticeable blemish on the unit that they will take care of it. (As you can see from the pictures it is noticeable, and when the unit lights up at night, it because even more clear.)

I never thought ANYONE would ever say that about the RX, especially in comparison to the V1!

Does anyone remember way back... wasn't the original Escort in the early 80's the first detector to use different tones to differentiate between X and K band radar? And I think it too used 'beep' vs 'brap' sounds. A bit of V1's daddy shows in its voice.

I remember. The original Escort was the best detector for a long time! The Whistler Spectrum was the only real close competition. But the Escort had the beep for X and the brap for K.

lol. my escort Solo I had back in highschool(im almost 23 now btw) was so horrible that when you ran out of batteries and pluged in the cigerrete lighter adapter it picked up it's on leakage as k band. It was completely horrible against picking up KA band and it was pointless at trying to pick up instant on k or ka. It was when I got pulled over by a state trooper in highschool using it that got me started on researching radar detectors. luckily the state trooper knew my family and let me off with a warning..i was only 16 at the time with a crappy escort cordless solo. I ripped it off the windshield and through it into my console when I got pulled over. I could still here it beeping..lol..

If I had a V1 back then I would have been warned of his instant on flashing oncoming traffic a long ways back. but I didn't get a warning until i was on top of him.. there was a lot of traffic too.

After that I got an escort 8500 when they were pretty new. After that a V1 then an x50 to see if it was better..it wasn't...so i returned it and kept my v1, which got stolen a month ago, which led me to getting the latest V1 with pop2.

Yeah, the first spectrum was not bad. I'm talking '78 early 80's. That is when I bought my first Original Escort, engineered by Mike V and some other guy. I'm dating myself, 44 yrs old BTW.
