Yeah I was not pleased about the scratch(terrible thing to see when you first open the box)... no its not huge, no it doesnt have any adverse effects on performance, but its deffinantly not what you would expect from a brand-new unit.Quote:

Doing that I've never had one drop on me. Although I have had one hang by one cup on cold days i believe in the past. That goes for any detector though with suction cups.
VR said if they deem it a manufacturers defect, and that it is a clearly noticeable blemish on the unit that they will take care of it. (As you can see from the pictures it is noticeable, and when the unit lights up at night, it because even more clear.)Quote:

It was when I got pulled over by a state trooper in highschool using it that got me started on researching radar detectors. luckily the state trooper knew my family and let me off with a warning..i was only 16 at the time with a crappy escort cordless solo. I ripped it off the windshield and through it into my console when I got pulled over. I could still here it beeping..lol..
If I had a V1 back then I would have been warned of his instant on flashing oncoming traffic a long ways back. but I didn't get a warning until i was on top of him.. there was a lot of traffic too.
After that I got an escort 8500 when they were pretty new. After that a V1 then an x50 to see if it was better..it wasn't...so i returned it and kept my v1, which got stolen a month ago, which led me to getting the latest V1 with pop2.
The whistler spectrum was a good detector?
