Re: Outdated, and poor customer service?
V1 FCC (FRN) registered number 0007441603 last hardware update was July 10, 2006. The V18A hardware frame is beyond obsolete, it's dead. Software updates are smoke and mirrors in my opinion.

I really debated responding to this thread, but the 2006 last FCC test date of your V1's been in my craw. I'm surprised it does not trip you with collision avoidance? Today, post 2016 rd's block that. The optics, DSP, advanced processor, superior design, and even gold circuit boards crush your argument in favor of continued software updates for your V1. As I mentioned, your driving an Edsel radar detector. Want a fantastic long range detector, buy a Passport S55 with no collision avoidance filtering. If you drive a beater, this is your detector. Happy trails.

It picks up collision avoidance, but my V1 is a classic with modern internals.
That sir, is an oxymoron.
Kmeleon
Nope. That's what a V1 is, classic with modern internals.
Hey Cam,
Hope your enjoying the holidays. I think I'll send a gallon of warm french fry grease to your neighbor Daryl Hannah for her fart car this holiday. That gooey stuff she runs must freeze at low temps in CO.
A classic without collision avoidance rejection has skipped modern internals. Perhaps it's an heirloom? ;-)

Maybe mine needs upgraded to current level but for the most part, I will keep it at it’s current software/firmware level. I don’t really need collision avoidance rejection as I don’t come across cars with it very often. Seems that the TMF setiing works quite well.

If your units last test date was earlier than 2016, it's time for new hardware, not software patches. I refuse to run Microsoft OS for the same reasons, patchwork updates, poor code, swiss cheese holes, hackers delight. Run Unix now.

what was the link? unix.

what was the link? unfix?
You could have done this if you really had wanted to. It's called due diligence.

If you have faith in your outdated device, then by all means, enjoy the outcome - ticket's. There is no excuse. You certainly aren't "the golden child of traveler brilliance" with your faith in ancient RD hardware tech, and software crutches.
Hopefully, you'll see the error of your future pull over's.
Happy Trails.

Pardon me. I thought you were going on about a V1 Gen 1. Now we have something to talk about! How do you like your V1 Gen 2?
