Angry Outdated, and poor customer service?

Well, it can't be much worse than that. I strongly recommend V1 owners run their FCCID in the link previously mentioned. If your units last test date was earlier than 2016, it's time for new hardware, not software patches. I refuse to run Microsoft OS for the same reasons, patchwork updates, poor code, swiss cheese holes, hackers delight. Run Unix now.

Even though mine is 2006, I have no intention of getting another anytime soon.

I wish that was a question rather than a statement. We all have faith in one thing or another. Your faith in outdated technology seems sober to you. Consider this, however, cops constantly update their countermeasures, how about you?

Your hardware is inferior by today standards. It betrays you. I'd have faith in that.

No. Just old school. A lot better than today’s high tech garbage. And what makes you think that cops are constantly updating their countermeasures? Last time I checked, they are still using Ka band radar and laser. My V1 still can pick those up.

I really debated responding to this thread, but the 2006 last FCC test date of your V1's been in my craw. I'm surprised it does not trip you with collision avoidance? Today, post 2016 rd's block that. The optics, DSP, advanced processor, superior design, and even gold circuit boards crush your argument in favor of continued software updates for your V1. As I mentioned, your driving an Edsel radar detector. Want a fantastic long range detector, buy a Passport S55 with no collision avoidance filtering. If you drive a beater, this is your detector. Happy trails.

It picks up collision avoidance, which I don’t come across very often but I have had the unit long enough to be able to tell the difference between collision avoidance and police radar. My V1 is a classic but with modern internals.

Nope. That's what a V1 is, classic with modern internals.

    Hey Cam,

Hope your enjoying the holidays. I think I'll send a gallon of warm french fry grease to your neighbor Daryl Hannah for her fart car this holiday. That gooey stuff she runs must freeze at low temps in CO.

A classic without collision avoidance rejection has skipped modern internals. Perhaps it's an heirloom? ;-)
