Default Recent observations of the V1.

I just got done driving how from school with the V1 on a route that my V995 has served my well on. Anyway I the only "modification I did with the V1 was to turn Ka to a more responsive alert. Everything else was as it came from VR...POP was ON

First I had a total of 8 Ka-Falses over 340miles fortunately 5 of the 8 were "J'd" out so really only 3 Ka falses....Which isn't bad usually with my BEL I might get 0-3 false POP alerts, not bad. Only 3 Laser falses

The V1 is a very talkitive detector when in A mode much more than the RX65 or my v995. However the Arrows made it great to see where the false was, especially on I-80 a road through NJ littered with X-bnad door openers. Yes my V995 and RX65 would false on the X-openers but at least I won't have to search around for the doors the arrows will tell me.

My one beef so far with the V1 is that there is no City NoX setting. This is a setting I loved to use when traveling along I95 through the city which has countless x-band alerts. If turning off X-band was as easy as it is with BEL or Escort I'd be in heaven.

I have had countless encouters with my local PDs talon Ka handheld and I can tell you the V1 has no troble at all sniffing it out. Before I left to go home today i got 1.1 miles on it

Turning off X band is simple--look in your manual it will take you maybe a minute to do it!

Or just go to logic mode (little l) it will make the X band not sound until a predetermined set value is reached ONLY in X band before it alerts you.

K/KA/Laser WILL not be effected at all in logic mode

As someone else pointed out, try the Logic or advanced Logic ((small L) modes and it will quiet down the V1 considerably. There won't be any reduction of sensitivity, just a difference in the reporting (alerts). Imagine shutting off X band altogether and getting an X-band radar ticket in another town with no warning at all. If I spent $400 for radar protection and shut off the part I ended up needing I'd be kicking myself.

You've just pointed out something that only comes with a bit of experience using the V1, which is that the arrows let you know much of the time if a 'false' is probably really false, by being from the side - or at least by passing from front to side as you go by it. This is why the issue of falsing is not so serious to me and many other V1 owners - when a signal is a false, we can very often confirm that fact by the direction. We don't just get a beep and are left to wonder where, what, if? If too many alerts are a problem, there's always the logic modes and the secondary volume level control.

good review on the v1 Rob thanks for shareing it with us  why dont u trun off x band anyway ya put the v1 in the big L mode it will take care of some x false alerts but it still will drive you a little nuts on x band even more if you know cops dont use x band i say trun it off.as for the KA falses man that does kinda suck tho.

obviously rob can program his v1 to disable x-band. i think what he was saying was if there was another mode, like a,l and L in which disables x-band. and i 100% agree with him that the v1 needs one of these modes. its too much of a PIA to re-program it while driving.

also i know exactly the roads u drive on. i would set automute options to 30 seconds, and unmute at 4 LED's. with this configuration, when passeing through PA on i-80 (right before u hit NYS again) run the v1 in A or little L mode, so u can see a K alert at muted volume (little-l), or switch it to A in which the automute options are disabled.

and it is quite possible some of those X-band alerts on i80 you got were leo. i took a trip to scranton and back a couple weeks ago and when passing thru jersey with the v1 in Big L mode i got little to no falsing and superb range on x-band so i know for a fact it can preform on these roads. also make sure nothing else inside your car is causing the falses cause another member just reported this happening with a proximity alarm (a longshot with your issues but its something...). time to program that baby

I find it interesting Rob that your V1 is more talkative. My V1 is quieter than my RX 65 was.... :?

do not turn off X while driving thru jersey. It is still widely used not only by state police but some locals as well.
