    Default PRO-78SE or XTR-695?

GF's car needs to be outfitted for cheap, I'm stuck on these two since they're both ~$130 each on various sites.

Anything I need to know? Most LEO's around here shoot Ka band, and quite a bit of Laser (I know I'm S.O.L. with that)

    What would you guys pick?

If you are strapped for cash, look into a Pro68SE

X2^ For about $90 it's as close to a steal as there is.

I have the XTR-695, and I must say i am quite impressed sometimes. It is a pretty good highway cruiser. It gives your Ka ID (33.8,34.7,35.5), you can shut off bands (like X band), and doesnt false as much as other cheap detectors (especially with laser falses from infinitys, i have not had a single laser false from a cruise control yet)

However, I have heard, but have not had this issue yet, that there is a bug where some K band signals are reported as X band. I dont know the link, but if you search you should be able to find that thread. Or someone who already knows can post it for you if they feel nice

Overall, this is my first detector, and I am quite pleased. But I am looking t upgrade here soon to a 9500ix most likely since i do a lot of city driving.

I used a friends Whistler for a while, it was a Pro78 se. With his, it would misidentify strong X band signals for weak K band signals at times, if I remember correctly.

Ah, well currently X-Band is not used around my local area so i turn off X(K and Ka Band mostly, with TONS of laser). When I take trips out of state (im in CA, around LA), or goto not so populated areas of CA, i throw X back on because you just never know....

Ive seen people talk about it with the XK Bug.... To my knowledge then it is only X > K and not K > X being reported...

When I tested the Whistler SEs, it seemed to me that anywhere there was an X band false alert, with X band turned off, it would just call that X band signal K band.
