Call and ask. If out of warranty Ibelieve it is 85 dollars.

Sorry to hear about your friends luck w/ his rd. Is is still under warranty?
Long since out of warrenty. He's had it for about 4 years now.
He's not real happy with Bel's track record regarding past service and calibration problems with thier new radar detectors. He knows that Cobra's are junk and knows that Whistler makes some decent detectors but not with the sensitivity that he'd like to have out on the open road. He doesn't want to take the plunge for a V-1 so........
I guess its up to him, but I think he's going to send it in.
