I ran a Vector 995 for over 2 years and its a great detector. You will definitely get many saves. Turn off X if its not used in your area and also turn off Pop if its not used.
As for laser falses, I didnt get very many of them but I had my detector mounted about mid window. There is a lot of theory about correct mounting of detectors but usually mounting higher would reduce the scatter off the hood and hopefully improve laser detection (and posibly reduce falses). The theory for mounting V1's is a little different because most people like to mount them high. It seems like many members in here have their Bells and escorts mounted Mid window.
I'm not an expert on this topic but i think mid window would be a good spot. You might also live in an area where certain false laser triggers are present such as an airport.
Search the forum and you will learn a lot.
MMTEK also seems to know a lot on this topic. Maybe he knows what is best for you.
i bought a 995 at christmas and couldn't be happier....a bunch of saves, seems to have great range and not issues what so ever.
I had a laser alert tonight just as i came around a corner.
The LEO was under 1000' .
I have the 995 mounted on the bottom of my windscreen.
In my area they have the LTI or Kustom Pro
So it looks like they have a wide laser beam at that distance.
Just make sure your wipers are not blocking the view of the laser sensor.
Yea, laser beams at 1000' are around 3 feet wide, if I remember correctly.
It won't mater as soon as i get my hands on the new Laser inerceptorOriginally Posted by ELVATO

My v995 killed me with laser falses at a nearby airport, and whenever I would be on something high up like a bridge or high overpass (around where I live everything is flat).
I mounted both high and low and didn't see much difference.
