Yeah, it does make the rear laser sensor useless, but then again the rear laser sensor on almost all radar detectors are a joke anyway. The built-in rear laser sensors are more of a marketing gimmick rather than actually being useful

Obviously you have a heat absorbing window, so how you have mounted it now just below the black area will have a drastic influence on your range.
This black area is free from this heat absorbing stuff, in order to put automatic toll type of devices, because the heat absorbing stuff als blocks radar radiation.

No, its not a heat absorbing window. The deep blue tint at the top of my window doesn't affect radar transmissions, but I wasn't sure about laser. My STi is mounted such that its four front laser diodes are just below the bottom edge of the blue tint, and I tested my STi's laser detection ability using an infrared remote control. All is good!

    Default nice

Nice mod Memtek but don't leave it that way when sending it in to BelEscort because this will most likely render the warranty invalid. In terms of rear laser detection, it is hard to detect but Alpinestars got shot w/ laser from the rear yesterday while using his V1, and the V1 picked it up so never say never folks.

Did you read his whole post? He said it can be easily removed, even remove the adhesive with isopropyl alcohol with no trace so it can still be returned for warranty service. That advice just sounded silly...

Detecting that you've been hit from the rear with laser isn't going to save you though is it? Basically you've got to pick up scatter from the rear off another targeted vehicle.... can you think of many scenarios where that's going to happen?

If laser from the rear is a major threat then you'd have to look at a good jammer.

You should sell those to Escort and charge them
extra because the Blue Plastic film cost more to
