    Default Service Required???

I have seen numerous posts about this problem and mine is doing it now. I had a bad battery yesterday and the RD had a low voltage warning on it.I have reset it and it still does it.I have had it for a year or two and am wondering if I want to send it in for repair. Thanks

Your problem might not be related to what the common one was. The common problem is associated with the effect of heat on the unit and the inability to self-calibrate. You problem sounds like there might be some other damage if it has been working up until now. I'd send it in.

It has done the same thing when it gets hot,but I have been taking out of the window and it stopped it until now when the battery went dead.Going to call and get a order number.

Try your RD in another car and reset it upon power up. If it works fine in another car then have your alternator checked. Make sure that it isn't damaged due to the dead battery, that it is putting out the correct voltage, and that it isn't putting out strong voltage spikes in its output waveform. It is quite possible that the diodes in your alternator are damaged due to overheating.

Have you tried your RD in another car? Damaged diodes in an alternator can produce some strong voltage spikes.

Went for a drive and the RD wouldn't pick up anything.Parked near a grocery store where I knew I would get a false signal and nothing.Called and got a work order number. Told me that they would fi xthe problem, flash the firmware and do a refurb on it.
