Newbie question - on a V995 does Tech Mode use more CPU time and reduce range or increase response time?

The only features that have + or - effect on RD sensitivity are:
-POP
-SWS
-AutoScan This mode delays the alert for aprox. 1.5second
-CityLoX Reduces ONLY X-band sensitivity
-CityNoX Reduces ONLY X-band sensitivity and you get audio alert on X-band when the signal reaches strength of 5 bars
-Highway ALL bands at MAXIMUM sensitivity,no filtering
BTW,check the last GOL test to see how SWS and POP affect RD sensitivity.

MetalFlame is 100% correct. Changing display modes on a Belscort RD doesn't affect sensitivity at all; it merely just tells what info (already processed by the CPU) to display.
the sws results seem to be inconclusive? i remember reading that it does sws after it gets a k, and that it wouldn't otherwise have any difference?Originally Posted by MetalFlame
I did some very careful testing against a K band door opener and found that turning SWS on with my Bel V995 very slightly decreased its K band sensitivity. You wouldn't think that this would be the case since one would assume that, with SWS on, the RD would stare longer at the K band signal to see if its a SWS message. And maybe this is exactly why K band sensitivity seems to be a bit less with SWS turned on -- the RD could be waiting for the K signal to be slightly stronger in order to determine whether or not a SWS message is actually present in the signal.Originally Posted by ziddey
Anyway, this is just a guess.
Don't forget if your RD has these features it was designed to work with them. POP is good to have off so you get less Ka band falses, especially from Cobras.

Does this apply to all bands, or X only?
Am I better off running City LoX, to cut down on X falses, than AutoScan?
Johnnyzero, welcome to the board. Your best bet is to use City Lox for cutting down on the x band falses.
Thank you.Originally Posted by proudNMAmember
That's what I use on my X50 and it works rather well.Originally Posted by proudNMAmember
