    Default Strange thing happened today

I run my detector in highway mode, so I muted a K false. I went to make a turn at a light and look at the display in tech mode and see a Ka but no sound from the detector. I look up the road and notice a cop coming in the opposite direction. How come it did not sound the Ka, was it still muted from the K signal from a few feet away?

I think everything is muted when you push the mute button, until 10 seconds go by with no signal, so if you press mute and then get a new bogey right away, you won't get audio.

The Automute is different, if a K is automuted and a Ka comes in, the Ka alert will be at normal volume initially.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

This was a manual mute for sure, so everything gets muted huh. Luckily, I had my eyes on the display and starting out from light, so I wasn't going too fast.

My Whistler alerts me when another type of signal is detected after I mute one. Also, if I mute one and it goes up suddenly alot in strength, it gives me two beeps to alert me.

I guess Bel was to lazy to add this...

Could it be that your detector stared alerting to Ka just before you muted it? Then you muted the Ka alert without realizing it?

No. It only mutes one band. If the band comes back, it makes two beeps.

Ka overrides K alerts on whistler detectors, it would have shown me first.

I'm thinking right along with Retaliation on this one. If my SRX is muted on K and I get a new Ka contact, the SRX unmutes itself, but not the other way around. I'll bet your Bel is the same. My guess is(and it's just a guess) that you picked up the Ka signal, without even knowing it, a split second before you pressed the mute button, thereby muting the Ka.

I was sitting at a light when I muted the K, because it is a common false that I always get. I proceeded and then turned on to the road about 500 feet up, then I noticed the Ka on Tech display, but no sound from the detector. Remember this is not automute where next signal coming in automatically sounds the detector.

Me too on that one, because on bels, a muted signal stays muted but a different signal of even the same band will sound, it happens with mine all the time, its jsut how it works. You must have muted that Ka, unless, of course, we cant rule out the possability of a malfunction at the time, a fluke of sorts. But if you assume the detector was working properly, you had to have muted that Ka
