Default Which One 995 or 955

Hello all. Newbie here. I have been reading the forums for a while and have narrowed my choice down to The 955 or the 995.
    CC has both on sale
    955 $140.00
    995 $200.00

With money being very tight. I am wondering if it is worth the extra 60 to move up?
    Thanks for the help.

Well, that's somewhat of the question I'm asking myself at this very minute. I have a v940 that is on the fritz after a bit of use. The store put me on a waiting list as they were sold out, now they have a sale on the v995 for 220, I paid 137.00 for my v940, OR, do I go with the v955 for the annoying X false I get omw to work on the highway, IF the v955 can disable X in highway mode.

With performance being the same across the board on the vector series, is it worth it to have spec mode, and being able to disable bands (unsure if you can in highway mode)? I'm asking myself this very question. For me the v940 was perfectly fine, anything else might be extra fluff for you.

Money is tight, go with the v940 and a direct hardwire kit.

If techmode (frequency display) is of any use to you then go for it, grab the 995. Personally I love techmode, but it's probably personal preference.

If not, go with the 940 or 955.

I can't comment on the 955 but I have a 995, and love it, don't get too many falses. I have to start learning tech mode though.

How is the False alarms between the two?
Does the 995 give you more control of this?

Here's the way I see it. If you don't have very many X band falses in your route of work, I'd just get the V940. The only difference between one of those and a V955 is a City No X mode (as opposed to City Lo X) and Autoscan. If you live in a place where you need X on, just get the V940.

Although the V995 for 200$ is a steal for us enthusiast (spec mode ), you say that money is tight. If you have a V940 in highway mode and a V995 with all bands on and highway mode, they should both alert in the same place. This should go for real alerts and falses.

    Well, let me explain.

You can turn off any band you want. Also for X band you can set it to low X band, so that it falses less.

But here in NJ I seem to get K band falses. So instead of running highway when going through a busy area I just keep it on the autoscan feature, it sets itself between hwy and city depending on the radar traffic.

You can view the manuals of any of them on: http://www.radarbusters.com/ to see what has the features you want most.

    EDIT: nanoed!

At $200, the V995 is a steal. Now that I am used to having it, the ability to display the radar contact frequency is something that is a total must for me in a RD.

IIRC the 995 is a stripped-down RX65, so it definitely is a good deal. It's the one I would pick if I had to choose between the three mentioned in this thread.

Turning off X in one way or another is a must-have feature IMHO (if you're not in NJ, OH or NC).
