Default Hardwire rx65 with phone cord?

I might as well introduce myself since this is my first post. My name is Allan and I am from metro Detroit, MI.

    if possible is this safe?

I planned on using the factory cigarette jack hardware, then using a female to female plug and just plug the phone cord in that way as an extension.

    Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see another user from the "neighborhood".

To answer your question, yes, it's safe, so long as your extension cable is wired correctly to match your ciglighter cable.

Indeed. Use a standard straight-through RJ-11 coupler plus a decent quality RJ-11 phone cord. Never use one of those ultra thin phone cords! Also, do not try any phone cord which is longer than 12 feet.

Do this all the time for rental vehicles. I've used 25ft lengths without a problem, just buy a good quality cord and you should be ok.

Enjoy....Ive never seen X band used here in Metro Detroit, so, you may consider shutting X off. X is in use up north though, and in Ohio and Indiana. So if you venture away from Metro Detroit, remember to turn X back on.

And so Sleeper's addition to radar detectors and to rd.net begins...
